· Started mid of last year – 9 months into taking native app development
· For iphone, partnered with third party
· For android, since its java, delta decided to build internal team
· Between 2 to 3 developers as part of team released first android app last year
· Need to add feathers and new ideas to the apps
· Help continue to build out the team is additional android expertise
· Challenged since there is no internal exp
· Person must have very good hands-on android dev exp
· Exp integrating with third party such as maps, weather, etc
· Understands best way to handle android challenges
· Hands on exp in the android space
· Exp with tablet computing (next big item – android tablets)
· First smart phone and then with tablets
· Willing to look at strong android developers – not just architects
· Customer apps
· UI exp is imp – passion and desire to do customer facing apps
ROLE
Android Applications Architect to provide architectural and big picture oversight for the development of new or enhanced software applications (apps) for mobile phones, smartphones, and other mobile devices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide architectural leadership for software development efforts by integrating various technologies such as web applications, relational databases, information security, servers, networking, etc.
· Review and analyze current systems and processes to determine requirements.
· Develop detailed systems documentation including functional specifications, design requirements, templates, layout, navigation, diagrams, maps, etc.
· Provide high-level analysis and design reviews to solve conceptual problems and avoid duplication of efforts within different applications.
· Work with third party vendors to integrate their technologies within organization's structure.
· Evaluate new technologies and recommend extension, expansion, and update of technology standards, practices, and methodologies.
· Ensure design, structure, and content meet performance guidelines; may assist with test planning and testing.
REQUIREMENTS:
(a) Android/Mobile Skills
· Experience working on large scale, consumer facing web sites
· 5+ years of Mobile Development experience
· 2+ years of Android Development / Architecture experience
· Strong understanding of Android platform (Linux Kernel to Application Level)
· Strong experience in Java, working with the latest Android SDK
· Working knowledge of all Android APIs
· Experience developing mobile/tablet apps with custom UI components
· Experience developing mobile/tablet apps supporting cross-Android devices and cross-Android platforms
· Extensive experience with Eclipse/ADT or in Other IDEs
· Experience with Web Services including REST and SOAP.
· Knowledge of code repository software, such as Git and Subversion
(b) Core Technical Skills
· Comfortable with algorithms, data schemas, resource management and fundamentals of software design
· Must have an understanding of system engineering and object oriented design patterns
· Experience with Agile Scrum software development methodology a plus
