I. POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Analyzes the code across the different software platforms in Citco to establish coding standards, templates and best programming practices. Collabrates with application teams across the organization to build consensus and to ensure adoption of standards effectively. Additionally, needs to identify ways to automate enforcement of the standards, templates and programming practices and collect metrics around it.
II. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS:
Reports to the Director of Architecture - SAE and would need to closely interact with all the different business IT teams in Citco. The interaction would range from Developers, Technical Leads, Managers, Architects, Associate Directors and Managing Directors.
III. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Establish contact with the different Business IT teams to understand their concerns.
• Interact with various application teams and analyze existing coding standards, programming practices and development methodology.
• Introspect code to identify issues and concerns.
• Develop coding standards, templates and best programming techniques for Citco.
• Identifies ways automate enforcement of standards and collect metrics around it.
• Works with SAE architects to move the standards to the Enterprise level repository
• Collaborates with various teams to build consensus on standards and collects feedbacks iteratively in order to evolve and better standards.
• Operates independently with minimal supervision.
IV. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Education
• Bachelor's degree.
Experience
• Minimum of 6 years of IT experience.
• Six to eight years or more of extensive hands on programming experience with proven track record across technologies.
• Two to three years of prior experience as a hands-on architect responsible for design and development (coding) of at least two successful development projects, is desirable.
Skill
• Must be an effective and assertive communicator. Should exhibit fluency in English (speech and writing).
• Must have excellent documentation skills.
• Must be comfortable working with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word and Visio).
• Must be able to analyze code in all layers across technologies (Java, .net, scripts, schedulers and PL\SQL)
• Must have hands on experience working with open-source frameworks & libraries, testing frameworks, code and programming practices introspection tools, unit testing coverage tools, IDE plugins, performance tuning and productivity improvement tools.
• Must have hands on experience working with XML, AJAX and scripting technologies.
• Must have hands on experience working with configuration management tools, servers, EAI and ESB tools.
• Must have hands on experience working with databases (for e.g. Relational – Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, etc.).
• Must have hands on experience working with UNIX and LINUX scripts.
• Must be comfortable working with IDEs (for e.g. RSA, RAD, Eclipse, Visual Studio etc.).
• Must have awareness of new open-source libraries, frameworks and technologies.
• Must have an understanding of software development life-cycle and the methodologies (for e.g. RUP, Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.).
