We have an immediate need for a mid-level Project Manager in South Boston.
This is our direct client and the project will last for 1+ year
Face to Face interview required.
The Project Manager will responsible for leading the project, assisting the Senior Project Manager and Project Director in overseeing and coordinating the efforts of the project management staff.
The PM will create, maintain, and communicate a project schedule, and ensure that the project is tracked against the schedule. The PM will work with PMO representatives from the systems integrator (SI) and independent verification and validation (IV&V) vendor to ensure that the schedule is comprehensive and includes major milestones from these other project schedules.
The PM must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with diverse audiences, in both oral and written contexts, and should be comfortable giving and receiving feedback. Must be familiar with project management principles and able to take initiative.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- The competencies critical to this position include superb organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
- Maintains a detailed project schedule, risk register, and list of action items for the project, independent of and coordinating with the SI project schedule.
- Generates regular status reports and dashboards to presenting project status and progress to the project leadership and senior management.
- Serves as liaison to the systems integrator's PMO
- Understands the various organizations involved in the project and their interests.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with project team members, senior leadership, and stakeholders.
- Tracks and completes project tasks, follows up on open items, and tracks issues.
- Ensures that tasks and outputs are timely, of the highest quality, and are tailored to the unique needs of the project's stakeholders.
- Responds proactively to requests for information.
- Documents and maintains records of current project plans, meeting minutes, decisions, project reports, schedules, budgets, cost tracking reports, and other pertinent records.
- Prepares and designs presentation-ready project reports using graphics and desktop publishing software; integrates word processing and spreadsheet files into reports. Prepares slides, overheads, and handouts for presentations or reports. Develops templates for reporting and communication.
- Coordinates conference calls and meetings; records meeting minutes as needed or follows up on and reviews meeting minutes recorded by another team member.
QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS:
- Bachelor's degree with 3 years experience, or equivalent
- Ability to assess priorities and operate in a flexible manner in order to meet the dynamic needs of the team
- Strong analytic and communication (oral and written) skills necessary to interact with all levels of management
- Attention to and precision with detail, comfort with financial data
- Ability to work independently and process quickly, independently prioritizing work activities
- Demonstrated experience in using computer-based tools including Microsoft Project, electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and database products
- Prefer individual with energetic, can-do approach to work, who tracks and follows up on tasks independently, who seeks out additional work, who recommends ways to improve upon current activities.
- PMP Certification desirable but not required.
- Prefer individual who has served in this capacity in a systems design and development environment, who responds quickly and with high quality, and has very strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of information technology design and development.
