Role	Component Engineer - Optics Component Engineer will oversee the qualification of optical components, subassemblies, and modules. Act as the technical representative to the Global Supply Management (GSM) and Business Unit (BU) commodity teams. Help define part number qualification processes and criteria. Process Part Number Requests (PNRs), component change management (PCN/MCN), RoHS certificates, and other component qualification specific documentation activities. Evaluate quality and reliability performance data for all levels of devices and interconnect technologies related to optical components, subassemblies and/or modules. Participate in Defect Reduction Teams and Supplier audits. Drive and assess next-generation optical device and interconnect technologies to enable new design concepts. Candidate will be experienced in optical component manufacturing including specifically optical and electrical interconnects, specialized PCBA component attachment quality requirements, semi-conductor manufacturing processes and reliability test methodologies for optical and opto-electronic devices. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and using sound technical knowledge on optics and mechanical components along with CM assembly processes.
Mandatory Skills & Experiences	- Experienced in optical component manufacturing and interconnect quality requirements and reliability test methodologies. - Experience or working knowledge in IC manufacturing and assembly processes - Experience based knowledge of component-level Failure Analysis and manufacturing-related issues for optics and PCB assembly. - Technical knowledge on optoelectronics and mechanical components and CM assembly processes. - Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams. - Good communication and influencing skills are a must. - Project/Program management skills. - Problem solving skills - must be capable of analyzing weakly defined situations, ultimately defining the issues and developing long and short term solutions. - ability to effectively rationalize decisions that impact revenue, customers, suppliers, and other Cisco departments
