Position: MicroStrategy Architect
Location : Chicago, IL
Rate: Open
Duration : Long
- Working with business management to define new reporting and analytic requirements.
- Working with DBA's and ETL architects to ensure that new data structures can meet BI application needs.
- Design and develop dimensional models to support the BI solution.
- Design, develop, and deploy project schemas via MicroStrategy Architect.
- Design, develop, and deploy user content (reports, dashboards, subscriptions) via MicroStrategy Web and MicroStrategy Desktop.
- Guide & mentor less senior BI team members with design & development tasks.
- Assist with creating definitions, standards, and best practices for a new BI group.
- Assist with BI environment administration. This includes performance tuning, user management, and security management.
- Works with Business Systems Analysts to ensure programming code meets business requirements.
- Monitors functioning of equipment to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.
- Consults with engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, develops specifications and performance requirements and resolves customer problems.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Ability to demonstrate experience with all MicroStrategy products including Visual Insight and Mobile
- Understanding of core data warehousing technologies: DB2, Teradata, SQL Server
- Data modeling experience related to building & tuning dimensional models for BI application requirements
- Excellent skills with reading, writing and optimizing SQL queries
- Ability to demonstrate strong report building and dashboard development skills
- Ability to apply mastery level knowledge in at least one required programming language (Visual Basic, C, C++)
- Ability to apply mastery level knowledge of web architecture, design, development tools, and languages (JAVA, HTML, ASP, XML, XSL, JavaScript)
- Ability to demonstrate experience with application testing procedures and methodologies (Unit Testing, & UAT)
