Description:
The Technical Operations Group is looking for a talented Senior Systems Engineer to help design, build and maintain the Interactive's expanding public and private cloud infrastructure. Responsibilities:
60% Focus Daily operational duties
On-call support is required.
Understand and adhere to design and documentation standards for all applications. (products, servers, network and storage/database.)
Implement security and regulatory compliance measures.
Recognize and manage technical dependencies and/or limitations that impact desired workflow.
Perform technical proof of concepts.
Maintain uptime requirements with highly available clusters.
Hadoop administration, job management and operational support
40% Focus on Automation/Architectural improvements
Actively mentor other operations team members in your areas of Subject Matter Expertise
Improve automated configuration management, monitoring and failure recovery solutions.
Collaborate with the core architecture team to design, build and maintain systems and storage infrastructure that range from large-scale BI/analytics/reporting applications, marketing web services and everything in between.
Support configuring, sizing, benchmarking, tuning and monitoring compute clusters.
Streamline cluster scaling and configuration
Required Qualifications:
Production support experience with common web technologies commonly referred to as the LAMP stack
Proficiency with one or more scripting languages common to administration of large distributed environments.
Integration/automation experience with Chef and Ansible
Experience with metrics tools, such as Splunk and Graphite
Experience with monitoring tools, such as Zenoss, Nagios, etc.
5-7 years of experience with enterprise-class data centers and systems of 1000+ nodes.
5-7 years experience building and implementing large-scale distributed solutions with solid understanding of server/storage technologies and ability to implement complex solutions
Execution of software, platform, content and configuration upgrades as needed
Familiarity with virtualized server environments
Solid understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and ability to install and configure operating systems packages
Understanding of network technology and communication principles
Strong analytical aptitude and problem solving skills to identify the root cause and implement the fix
Hadoop application architecture expertise (structure, data, ecosystem)
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience of analytics solutions and processes in web analytics is a big plus.
Experience with and knowledge of multiple Data Warehouse / Data Mart architectures
Familiarity with large scale multi-terabyte environments or experience with distributed systems is a plus
Additonal Information:
Must have customer service/people skills and experience with a variety of end users. Ability to make recommendations. 5-7 years of experience with operating systems, Windows and Linux
