Skill and Role Summary:
As Senior Java Developer, individual will play a key role in designing and delivering enterprise investment management solutions. The role will work closely with investment professionals, business analysts, as well as various technology disciplines in a highly visible and aggressive iterative delivery model.
A qualified candidate will be bright, highly motivated, self-starting, able to lead diversified & dynamic team, as well as work productively on independent assignments; Incumbent will be well versed in financial domain concepts, with a track record of designing and delivering software components using Java technologies.
Additionally, this individual is a skilled engineer capable of moving seamlessly between iterative prototyping and enterprise strength application development.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Follow coding best practices to ensure projects meet architectural guidelines
Write detail unit test plans associated with the design of the software components
Create, update and maintain technical documentation for software-based projects
Translate technical systems design to functioning code
Ability to multi-task, possess strong project management skills
Must be pro-active in questioning and clarifying business requirements in relation to systems capabilities
Perform object-oriented analysis and design, including Java and using Object Modeling and Sequence Diagrams
Develop code in Java using Eclipse IDE for middle-tier services SOAP and REST based
Work in a highly productive, agile, project delivery environment that includes business, project managers, track leads, architects, analysts, user experience designers, quality assurance engineers, and developers
Work across peer groups to resolve and understand complex technical/design issues
Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle.
Develop, document and communicate technical design artifacts within the team
Develop programmatic unit tests for all code developed, understands continuous integration and uses the defined process for it
Performs technical and functional analysis under the supervision of a senior technical lead
Demonstrated experience working in Agile project teams and Agile processes for estimation, development and testing.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in Java, J2EE, Hibernate, iBatis, etc., for developing middle tier REST services
Experience developing software utilizing OOA, OOD, and OOP principles & design patterns
Strong Object-oriented analysis and design
Experience working in a matrix environment with project team members in multiple locations, including offshore, is preferred
Working experience in Agile/Scrum based project with TDD (Test Driven Development) is a plus
Experience in financial services industry along with Trading will be huge plus
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
