DevOps Engineer, Apple Sales and Marketing Systems:

 

Seeking sharp, "Jack of All Trades"-type to support engineering, QA, and operations teams.  Looking for more of a "big picture" person who can pickup new things quickly.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Tools/Automation development.
2. Implementing and maintaining scalable monitoring systems.
3. Facilitate the needs of dependent teams (engineering, QA, and operations) and work with external teams to achieve results under tight timelines.
4. Execute QA and production deployments for many different applications.
5. Document procedures and modifications to environments.
6. Support production and non-production application environments.

 

Key Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux
• Good understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, routing).
• Experience troubleshooting problems and working with cross-functional teams.
• Some familiarity with configuration and deployment tools (Ansible, Salt, Fabric, etc.)
• Strong understanding of load balancer capabilities/functionality and firewall rules.

 

Desired:

• Experience with the following: Apache, tomcat, Java, PHP, version control (Git preferably), build tools (ant/maven/Jenkins), system analysis (truss/dtruss/strace), and network analysis tools (e.g. snoop/tcpdump/Wireshark).
• 3+ years in an SRE or DevOps role.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and optimization (Oracle, MySQL, etc.)
• Experience with some form of monitoring (Nagios, Cacti, Sensu, Openview, etc.).
• Exposure to orchestration tools such as OpenStack, Mesos, etc.
• Fluent in at least one scripting language in addition to Bash (Python/Perl/PHP/Ruby), PHP/Python experience highly desired.
• Some development experience with languages such as C, C++, Objective-C, or Java.

 

Description

This role will require interfacing with many different teams as a DevOps engineer, supporting engineering, QA, and operations.  Responsibilities performance tuning/improvement, troubleshooting, and automation/tool development. Should be able to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
