This is a direct-client opening for an IT Applications Architect located in Bellevue, WA. The salary is in the $120-137K range + Bonus and relocation is provided for nonlocal candidates. Visa candidates will also be considered.
The IT Applications Architect will be responsible for developing a portion of the architectural framework for applications system development, maintenance and enhancement efforts, and supporting the implementation of the various architecture elements set forth by the established standards and guidelines. It requires an in-depth knowledge of distributed computing technologies to configure and integrate PSE's Web, Mobile, Energy Operations and Meter systems with other corporate information systems, preferably in a Utility Business environment.
We are looking for someone who can assess mission critical Applications system objectives in the context of existing enterprise, data and technical architectures, and develop Applications Conceptual, Logical and Physical Application Architecture and Designs. This person will also contribute to the development of consistent application migration objectives, strategies, and tactical plans to achieve them.
This position works with internal application analyst and business analysts, consultants and other stakeholders to develop architectures in the following areas: defining and documenting the structure, connections and relationships of business processes, organizational work groups, Web, Mobile, Energy Operations and Meter applications, user interfaces, applications interfaces, operating systems, infrastructure, and network topology.
Works with other domain and solution Architects along with Application Manager to definite and document the various system level architecture components related to applications and their relationship to the entire solution stack (hardware platforms, operating system, network,data, application, presentation, and security) Also advises on best practice tools and methods for , development and construction tools, solution operation, performance monitoring/testing, and application distribution.
Coordination with Application Managers to develop standards, guidelines and IT system architectures, establishing a framework that constrains the design of systems for the purpose of eventual integration of systems and accessibility of data supporting various interdependent business processes and functions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related technical field.
15 years of IT architecture experience.
10 years experience working in a large-scale, diverse IT environment.
Ability to translate short- and long-range strategic plans for architecture into design and implementation of current and future applications.
Has deep technical expertise in three or more technology domains, and broad understanding of how that technology is used across multiple business functions, in multiple industries, to deliver business value.
Is able to influence with credibility across multiple business functions or technologies with limited analysis (based on prior experience).
Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical language.
Strong leadership, project and team building skills – ability to lead teams and drive projects and initiatives by working effectively with others with a demonstrated ability to work cross-departmentally.
Strong collaborator – willingness to share ideas, documentation and best practices.
Conceptual and analytical thinker – ability to extract, analyze and document complex business and technical requirements/strategies from customers and IT team members.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MS in computer science or other related field.
Continuing education in the field of architecture.
ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Technology), SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) experience/training.
Technical writing.
Supervisory or managerial experience.
Deep experience with system Integration between disparate systems and a solid WCF background
Experience driving/leading SOA based environments
Experience designing tier 1 systems with offline capabilities
Experience in Cloud infrastructure, PaaS, IaaS and SaaS systems
Knowledge of relational database technology
Solid knowledge of SQL and Unix related to utilities
Experience in business system application design, development and installation, successfully leading development teams through the full lifecycle of software development.
Solid experience in planning/architecture development and support, with experience integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform, multitasking operating systems environments
Experience in designing and implementing advanced Web, Mobile, Energy Operations and Meter application architectures, with experience integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform, multitasking operating systems environments .
Experience in designing advanced application architectures, with experience integrating systems in multi-user, multi-platform, multitasking operating systems environments.
Experience as a project leader of sub- projects of enterprise-level initiatives.
