Position : Mainframe Application Developer
Location : Trenton, NJ
Duration : 11 months contract

10+ plus years of IT experience.
2+ years of development experience using Agile preferred SCRUM
5+ years of Lead development
 
Develop and maintains JCL and COBOL applications hosted on IBM's Z/OS platform. Gather information from functional experts to create application specifications and requirements. Trouble shoots issues with applications and determines solutions. Unit test and formally test all the work and related / dependent functions. Work as part of the team in order to satisfy the MVC needs
 
Write and / or modify computer programs based on prepared specifications and according to established standards. Write and compile source code and resolve logical or syntax errors utilizing a variety of languages. Review current source code and make modifications as needed.
Perform the necessary research to resolve technical questions from coding and testing programs. Conduct walk-through sessions. Utilize manuals, training materials, online help, Internet services, and various team members to maintain current knowledge and problem solutions. Test programs to ensure functionality according to the program specifications. Assist analysts in system testing as required. Participate in walk-through sessions with team members, as necessary to evaluate program effectiveness and conformance to department standards.
Assist in the documentation of programs. Prepare program documentation of data requirements according to established standards. Write necessary operating instructions or develop tutorials for using existing and new applications.
Assist in the implementation of programs into production. Prepare and submit forms to move programs to production and ensure the move was successful using established change control procedures.
 
Responsibilities:
Strong understanding of design patterns • Strong understanding of UML modeling • Strong understanding of application security and security design patterns • Develop multitier coding, business layer coding, interface development, service development, creation of stored procedures, etc. as applicable for the work package / project. • Should understanding of agile methodology • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals: object-oriented, database, design patterns, Web Services, and algorithms. • Ability to be self-sufficient within a team and communicate with other team members • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Ability to work independently • Analyze business and technical requirements • Create proof of concepts as required • Design and implement new features • Diagnose and fix bugs as needed • Ability to learn and implement new technologies • Deliver quality code that meet business requirements, organization's standards and guidelines on a timely basis • Develop loosely coupled object-oriented solutions that are highly testable, modularized, and reusable • Develop solutions that leverage existing enterprise frameworks, align with the overall enterprise architecture and vision and are compliant with the established coding standards and other engineering principles • Participate and facilitate architecture design sessions and peer design reviews • Work in a team environment using Agile Project Management (Scrum) and Test Driven Development • Participate in all Scrum activities such as create user stories, sprint planning and sprint retrospectives • Understand business requirements and apply solutions that align with the long-term strategies and enterprise architecture goals • Identify, assess and manage risks to ensure successful achievement of sprint deliverables
