Position: VMWARE Consultant with Unidesk Experience

Location: Austin, TX

Duration: 6 months +

Phone interview

 

 

Must Have:

·Must have a minimum of 2 years of Unidesk development and support experience developing end-user layers and installing Unidesk in a medium sized business

 

General Description:

·Performs highly advanced, senior-level computer systems analysis work. Work involves managing and performing the Unidesk design, installation and maintenance.

 

·Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. 

 

·Works in the Production Control & Operations team in the Information Systems Division, reporting to the Service Desk supervisor. 

 

Essential Functions:

·Analyze the current software implementations/packages for the development of Unidesk layers and configurations for approximately 200 different end-user software packages.

 

·Develop Unidesk software layer solution, ensuring all user/workstation-specific personal information (system and user generated files) is stored to maximize I/O efficiency, recoverability and modularity

 

·Ensures seamless integration with and modularity of VMware infrastructure, including VMware Tools and the View Agent.

 

·Develop Unidesk layer test scenarios for different ERS divisions.

 

·Validate the installations with a combination of VDI end-users.

 

·Train ERS Service Desk staff in the development of Unidesk layers and the support of existing software.

 

·Document the entire development and support process, including the process for rapid recovery of problem/failed VDI workstations

 

Knowledge, Skills and Ability: 

·Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. 

·Ability to explain highly technical information to people of various levels of technical understanding. 

·Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers. 

·Good end-user relationship skills. 

·Good triage skills when evaluating root-cause during incidents and the ability to determine the appropriate path for short and long-term resolution. 

· Displays initiative, prioritizes workload appropriately, and has the ability to follow technical and business procedures.
