Job Title: Data Scientist
Location: Pittsburgh, PA but will move to NJ shortly.
Duration: 12 months C2H
Phone and Skype interview. F2F if candidate is local.
Employer will provide sponsorship conversions
· Work from home every Wednesday once Full Time employee
· Unlimited Sick days ( if not abused) once Full time employee
Responsibilities:
Needs some Architectural experience
o More than just models- would like design experience.
• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions.
• Mine and analyze data (using state-of-the-art methods) generated from our products and data integrated into our platform from customers.
• Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
• Select features, build and optimize classifiers using machine learning techniques.
• Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
• Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize revenue generation and other business outcomes.
• Enhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
• Create processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
Essential Skillset and Experience:
We're looking for someone with 5+ years of on-the-job experience driving high impact business value. To be considered an exceptional candidate, your background will feature technical expertise coupled with real world application of manipulating data sets and building statistical models, have a Master's or PHD in Statistics,
Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field, and have these additional skills:
• Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
• Experience working with and creating data architectures.
• Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
• Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
• Coding knowledge and experience with one or languages: JavaScript, AngularJS, CSS, C#/ASP.NET.
• Experience with natural language processing (NLP).
• Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
• An interest in networking with other technical and business peers.
Bonus Points:
• Familiarity with functional programming, particularly a working knowledge of F#.
• Experience with Kafka, Event Store, Kinesis, or other tools for streaming data.
• Experience with toolsets on Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, etc).
• Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, AdWords, DFP, Facebook Insights, etc.
• Experience with distributed source control systems, especially Git.
• Familiarity with startup culture, or experience working within other SaaS companies.
