Cognos TM1 Developer/Analyst
Location: Chicago IL (Downtown)
Duration: Original Contract to 11/09/2016 (Extension following up to 24 months)
BASIC FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for applying emerging technologies to develop sophisticated database solutions; working closely with business and technical areas collecting/defining requirements associated within business operations. Translating them into functional design Documents/Reports; participating in development of Divisional Operations Financial reports including operational metrics utilizing SQL, Cognos (TM1), and the Enterprise Data Warehouse; and utilizing data analysis methods and applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Review and validate data for all tools and systems that support departmental, divisional operations or the Enterprise Project Portfolio.
2. Code and execute SQL statements to query and extract data from various relational databases (need to review how language can relate to Cognos/TM1)
3. Create reports including detail and summary level in order to isolate and address business objectives for divisional operations with attention to detail.
4. Code, test and debug mainframe and client server programs including SQL, VB, JCL, Syncsort and FOCUS in order to query, sort and extract files.
5. Support process improvement efforts to reach divisional performance targets. Assist in the facilitation, analysis and/or document business processes to evaluate performance effectiveness and business impacts.
6. Assist transforming business needs into technical requirements.
7. Coordinate interaction with various levels of operations staff, escalating issues to departmental management when necessary.
8. Interact with management and technical staff to identify and assess reporting needs. Participate in the design and development of common metrics. Generate standard and ad-hoc reports.
9. May perform system administration and other support for applications including meeting service level agreements as assigned.
10. Support other portfolio, application, and reporting processes as assigned
11. Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with co-workers, management, customers, etc.
12. Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.
13. Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.
14. Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
| * Bachelor degree and 1 year technical experience OR 4 years technical experience. |
* 1 year experience developing applications or analytical experience.
* Experience with technical applications such as Microsoft Access, Excel, SQL, Cognos, SAS, and Focus
* Experience with database systems, spreadsheet and word processing packages and/or graphic packages.
* Knowledge of file-access and data manipulation methods.
* Knowledge of the project management lifecycle.
* Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience meeting deadlines, work prioritization and time management.
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor degree in Business or Computer Science.
* PC proficiency to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes, Cognos TM1.
* Customer service skills including managing customers' expectations.
* Experience in collaborating within a team structure to produce extraordinary results.
