This is our direct client opening for Senior Network and Security Engineer, Seattle, WA. This is 6+ Months Contract Position and the candidate must currently be located in the Seattle area.
This role is responsible for all aspects of Network and Security lifecycle in adherence to established policy. This position designs, builds and supports data communication networks, operational technology (OT) networks, monitoring, and data security including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network security, and endpoint security. Network connectivity and secure systems are integral to maintaining 24x7 operations of the organization e.g., government reporting, manufacturing, critical vessel systems, and business continuity. While serving as the networking and information security subject matter expert, this position will identify, manage, and coordinate appropriate service providers and maintain vendor relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Build network models for analysis and planning
· Design, test, and implement complex data networks
· Implement network enhancements based on trends analysis e.g. continuous improvement of low bandwidth high cost VSAT network
· Troubleshoot network through root cause analysis to isolate and diagnose complex network problems that traverse terrestrial and/or VSAT networks
· Identify and resolve highly complex or specialized issues that may require departures from traditional approaches and the establishment of new techniques and processes. Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise
· Plan, implement, and maintain operational technology (OT) networks and security
· Identify security gaps, develop security system enhancements, and recommend changes to policy
· Continuously update job knowledge through awareness of emerging security and network practices and standards
· Maintain and update network and security systems documentation
· Conduct Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning, implementation, and testing
· Coordinate and manage managed security provider operations and projects
· Act as the primary point of contact for vendors and service providers related to network and security. Monitor and manage their activities as necessary to meet organizational goals
· Manage projects related to areas of responsibility
· Budget in area of responsibility
Education/Experience Required
· 4-year degree preferably in MIS or Computer Science
· 7+ Years of progressive experience in Network and Security Engineering, Experience VSAT networks
· Professional Certifications: CISSP, CCNP Routing and Switching, and CCNP-Security or Equivalent

· VMware (ESXi, VSphere, and Cross vCenter NSX)
· Routing and Switching (ISR4000, Nexus 9000, and Cisco Catalyst)
· eBGP, iBGP and OSPF
· vPC, STP, VLAN, VXLAN, VTEP, iSCSI, GRE, IPSEC, VPN, DSCP, DNS, DHCP, multicast, IPSLA, VRF, netflow, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, SNMP, SSL, AAA, Radius, 802.1x
· Network Quality of Service
· Network based IPS and IDS systems
· Network Analysis tools (Wireshark)
· Next Generation Firewalls (Cisco Firepower and Fortigate)
· Experience in evaluating and assessing security threats across a variety of environments
· Vulnerability Scanning (Qualys)
· Micro-segmentation
· Endpoint Security, detection, and response
· Wireless (Cisco and Meraki)
· Network and Systems Monitoring (Solarwinds, SCOM, VMware Network insight, VMware log insight)
· Strong understanding of Modern IT infrastructures
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
