The Software Tester is responsible for ensuring that products meet quality assurance standards prior to a production release. The tester implements and documents testing cases used to validate functionality, usability, reliability, compatibility and performance. This individual is responsible for ensuring that systems function in accordance with the business requirements, functional specifications and technical designs.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

§   Review project documentation as a basis for testing planning and product understanding.

§   Design, implement and execute manual test cases.

§   Generate high quality bugs and reports based on findings and coverage.

§   Demonstrate ownership and accountability through self directed task management

§   Communicates frequently with QA Leads and project managers to advise on the quality risks of the software prior to deployment

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

§   Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

§   Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and concepts.

§   Proficient in designing and executing manual test suites.

§   Excellent verbal and written communication skills

§   Mercury/Rational tool experience a plus, not required (LR, QTP, TD, QC, Robot, RobotJ).

§   Basic understanding of SQL and Unix commands

§   Financial services experience

 

Education and Experience:

 

§   Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field

§   5 years of experience in software testing, including planning, scripting and execution
