Position: BI  Cognos BI Architect with Data modeling experience

Location: Jersey city, NJ

Duration 6 months +

A hands-on technical role with proven experience in BI architecture, Dynamic cubes, Entitlement and Security setup  and data warehousing, with emphasis on architecture and data modeling

Cognos Version: 10

 

Need to be strong in TM1 and Dynamic cubes in addition to strong experience in Report studio and FM.

 

 Responsibilities

·         Create, enhance and maintain Framework Manager models to support business requirements

·         Create logical and physical data models using best practices and compliance with BI data models (Snowflake, Star Schema)

·         Architect Cognos multi-dimensional cube solutions

·         Review modifications to existing framework models and data models to improve efficiency and performance.

·         Responsible for performance tuning and optimization of the systems

·         Design and implement security architecture which will include both row level security and object security

·         Develop Complex Reports (List, Crosstab, Drill through, Master-Detail, Charts, Maps, multi-query multi-prompt reports, burst reports) and Dashboards and Active Reports using Report studio

·         Help drive the development of standards and best practices, and mentor team members

 

Required Skills

·         7+ years of Cognos experience with

·         5+ years of experience with relational and multi-dimensional (OLAP) data modeling. Experience with Dimensional Data Modeling and creating Star Schema/Snowflake Schema

·         Experience in creating complex Stored Procedures, Tables, Views, Materialized Query tables, Indexes and SQL

·         Familiarity with ETL tools like Informatica.

·         Familiarity with Agile Software Development

·         Good analytical and problem solving skills

·         Strong presentation and collaboration skills, including the creation of formal documentation

·         Strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills

·         Ability to manage numerous priorities/projects and mentor other team members

·         Cognos certification a plus

·         Understanding of Data Warehouse, Star Schema, and OLAP is a plus

·         Knowledge of financial services industry is added advantage.
