Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Network Administration
• Develops software upgrade procedures and methodologies for efficient deployment
• Provides periodic reports on network utilization and communicates recommendations for improvement to supervisor
• Researches potential network solutions and security best practices, recommends equipment/software necessary to enhance/maintain an efficiently functioning network
• Designs network solutions using recommended hardware and/or software products
• Creates and exercises system test plans used for testing network solutions
• Maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades/enhances network operating systems
Unified Communications
• Builds, configures and/or upgrades new or existing system components (i.e., Call Manager, Unity, IM, Video) as designed by Global Team
• Provides Level 2 support (North America) and Level 3 support (Global) for Telephony, IM and Video Conferencing solutions
Project Management
• Adheres to Change Management policies and procedures
• Plans and deploys networking infrastructure at new offices / locations according to LDC Networking standards
• Maintains availability and operations of Business Critical Applications
• Maintains status reports to account for daily, weekly and monthly activities
• Interfaces and communicates with HelpDesk and PC Support personnel to resolve outstanding network issues
• Performs all related responsibilities as required
Required Skills
The following are the basic qualifications:
• High School Diploma
• 5+ years of experience in PC/LAN/WAN hardware and software maintenance, such as installing hardware components in machines, loading software and network operating systems, telephony installation / support
• Expertise with Cisco Switching, VoIP, and Call Manager. (CCNP AND CCNA)
• Expertise in Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, NSRP, JSRP)
• Expertise with Firewall devices and security measures. Juniper experience preferred.
• Expertise in building / configuring Cisco Unified Communications systems and features, such as: Dial Plans, Translation Patterns, Route Patterns, Device Pools, SRST, Voice Gateways, Unity Connection, Cisco Jabber IM & Presence, etc.
• Expertise in Cisco Video technologies including Telepresence, VCS and TMS
• Knowledge of Avaya PBX a plus
• Expertise in SIP Trunking, VoIP protocols – SIP, H.323, VoIP Media, Web Collaboration
• Knowledge of Layer 2 network design and standards, including Ethernet WAN technologies, 802.1x and 802.3xx
• Knowledge of Riverbed WAN Optimization a plus
• Knowledge of Active Directory (AD) a plus
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze and resolve day-to-day problems
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload
• Ability to interface with all levels of employees
• Ability to train and direct staff of technical peers
• Must meet specified deadlines
• Direct contact with upper management, peers, vendors and service providers.
