Network Security Engineer (Cisco)

Note: This position will work forty (40) hours per week during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, at the Pittsburgh, PA 15203. The IT Resource must be available for a minimum of six (6) months (1,040 hours),

B.  Project Purpose and Background:  ISD Information Security Group (ISG)

The Network Security Engineer ("IT Resource") will be responsible for migrating configurations from a Cisco ACE load balancing infrastructure over to a F5 load balancing environment. 

The primary role of the IT Resource will be to work with the F5 team to identify configurations that are ready to be migrated. The IT Resource will be responsible for logging into the Cisco ACE to document the necessary configuration options in an Excel spreadsheet.  Once that information is acquired, the contractor would then log into the F5 environment and build the appropriate configuration in that environment.

Responsibilities of the IT Resource shall include but are not limited to the following:

·       Maintain documentation showing the work that has been completed;

·       May be required to create high-level Visio documentation;

·       Provide regular weekly status reports showing the number of migrations completed, issues encountered, project delays, etc.;

·       Produce Deliverables that include but are not limited to (i) a final report showing the total number of completed migrations and (ii) any remaining issues, pending migrations, uncompleted work, etc. 

Required Skillsets and Qualifications of a successful candidate must include:

·       Intermediate (2+ years) experience in networking, application delivery or web hosting;

·       Cisco or F5 certifications (not required, but is a plus);

·       Experience with Cisco ACE or F5 LTM (not required, but is a plus);

·       Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Lync and Visio;

·       General knowledge of load balancing and reverse-proxy functionality;

·       Basic understanding of applications, web servers, etc.
