C2C positions
1. Senior Network Engineer
a. The senior network engineer shall take on a major role in design of new projects, as well as participate in implementations, testing and operations as necessary in a senior capacity with ability to task other members of the group with request from WAN Group management.
b. The senior engineer shall have:
a Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent,
at least five (5) years of experience in routing and switching (10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet, Frame Relay, Bridging, TCP/IP, IPX, EIGRP, BGP, and trunking protocols) in operations, implementation and engineering, a Cisco CCNP certificate (preferably having passed at least the written portion of the CCIE),
at least two (3) years of experience in firewall/VPN/security, and
very good oral, written and presentation skills.
c. Other responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:
Work with WAN Group management and chief network engineer to understand objectives and formulate requirements.
Solicit input from other members of the group, document, and present periodic design updates.
Designs to take into account routing, switching, security, ease of operations, and an eye toward the future.
Create requirements for product assessments and design relevant test beds with assistance from other members of the group.
Work with the group to research new technologies.
Periodically audit network for maintenance and upgrades and request management to task members of the group as necessary.
Assist other members of the group in monitoring of the network, network implementations, installations, and troubleshooting.
2. Network Operations Engineers (weekend coverage, 1 individual per 12 hours shift)
a. The network operations engineers shall primarily be involved in daily operations of the network. The network operations engineers shall also assist in network implementations and provide design input to senior and lead engineers.
b. The network operations engineers shall have:
a Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent,
at least three (3) years of experience in routing and switching (10/100/1000 Ethernet, Frame Relay, Bridging, TCP/IP, IPX, EIGRP, and trunking protocols) in operations and implementations, a Cisco CCNA certificate or higher,
at least two (2) years of experience in firewall/VPN/security, and
good oral and written skills.
c. Other responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:
Communicate with other WAN Group engineers to assure clear understanding of the network and outstanding issues.
Open TAC cases as necessary and send relevant information to the WAN Group about any issues encountered during shift and any follow up required.
Monitor Spectrum, syslog, and IDS (Intrusion Detection System) alarms.
Contact WAN Group management during shift as necessary.
Be available to attend group meetings upon request.
3. Chief Network Architect
a. Design, deploy and support the growing enterprise environment.
b. Lead projects involving LAN, WAN, Datacenter, Spine/Leaf technology, Wireless, Cloud, etc. for our Cisco based infrastructure which also incorporates Palo Alto, Arista, Fortinet, etc.
c. Work with other network architects to vet design prior to implementation.
d. Create technical documentation including writing and drawing network diagrams.
e. Work with vendors, carriers and other technical groups to implement new designs and optimize the network.
f. Design wireless environment including controllers and AP.
g. Transfer knowledge of network design to the rest of the team.
h. Adhere to security policies from a network perspective.
i. Troubleshoot Level 3 network support issues.
j. Analyze the network and implement solutions to increase uptime efficiency and security.
4. Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Lead Engineer
a. The VDI Engineer shall be an overall technical resource assigned to the Server and Systems group. The Server and Systems group is primarily involved in the overall technical design, implementation, maintenance and support of LAN servers within the FDNY. Server OSs include: Novell operating systems including but not limited to NetWare 6.5; and Windows 2000 and 2008 r2 Server.
b. The LAN Platform Engineer shall have:
a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree in computer science or a related technical field,
a minimum of five (5) years full time LAN experience,
a minimum of three (3) years of experience with VMware is required, along with Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) Certification.
c. The candidate should have an excellent working knowledge of the following:
Windows Server
VMware
VDI
SQL Server
Office 365
Commvault
VxRail Engineered Systems
NSX
Backup Software: Commvault
General Networking Knowledge:
1. Network Design and Problem solving
2. Networking protocols - TCP/IP IPX/SPX
3. Network Routing
4. Network switching
5. Cisco Routing protocols
6. ACS
5. Mobility Engineer/Specialist
a. In depth knowledge of IOS and Android. Workspace ONE MDM software expert.
