Oracle database administration on the Unix environment skills needed.
DB2 on Z/OS skills as an additional technology experience preferred.
Communication skills and general DBA experience
• Highly motivated, job engaged, Team player
• Good verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complex technical issues and relate to development requirements and needs.
• Should be able to work across physical boundaries through phone, IM efficiently as rest of the database team is located in Richmond, VA
• Physical modeling experience needed - preferably in Erwin modeling tool
• Batch Jobs scheduling experience - preferably controlm tool
• Candidates should have experience in large-scale environments
• Hands on experience with Microsoft Windows XP or higher version, Office, PowerPoint, Access, Visio and Project
• Strong change management experience for implementing database changes
• Experience promoting database objects from one environment to other and maintaining change logs

Oracle DBA experience - required
• Creation of databases in HPUX / AIX environment
• High level experience with writing Korn shell scripts
• Very good understanding of how memory, CPU, Disks work on the UNIX environment
• Demonstrate experience with backups, recovery, performance tuning and optimization on oracle
• OEM, statspack, AWR experience needed
• Experience of execution plans and how to use them to optimize/improve query costs and create new indexes
• Understanding of RMAN, Data Guard
• Experience with how oracle security works
• Monitoring database performance during application performance testing and recommending database changes
• Oracle export/import experience.
• Experience backing up databases from one environment and restoring them in other database environments
• Experience with upgrading oracle databases from oracle 10g to 11g
DB2 on Z/OS experience - preferred
• Demonstrable experience with DB2 on Z/OS design and development including creating stored procedures
• Demonstrable experience of creating databases and database objects on Z/OS platform
• Understanding how to generate execution plans on db2 on z/os
• Knowledge of how to logon to Z/OS and use various tools used to manipulate OS files
• knowledge of DB2 Administration tool - TSO DB2 ADM and DB2 high performance unload tool.
• Knowledge of Omegamon for DB and Data Studio.
Other Criteria considered
• Previous Capital One Experience is a plus
• Experience in other financial organization is a plus
• Experience with tools like controlm, Idera, HP-Service Manager, Clarity
• Experience as Development DBA
• Knowledge of Windows Server Administration, different disk technologies, disk replication, Networking etc.
• Familiarity with ETL Tools like AbInitio, DataStage, Informatica, etc.
• Familiarity with Web Applications.
• Knowledge of any other programming languages, like .Net, Visual Basic, Java, C++, C#,etc.
