COGNOS ARCHITECT/ BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ARCHITECT

Job Location - Austin, Texas, United States

·         Job Description

·         Seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Business Intelligence Architect. Candidate Must have Architect Experience.

·         The BI Architect will be a dedicated member of the Business Intelligence team responsible for implementation and ongoing growth and development of Golfsmith International's Enterprise Datawarehouse and Business Intelligence capabilities.

·               Develop retail BI strategy/ approach to support rapid fire business intelligence application need & in-memory analytics to speed up data delivery for business decision making and provide flexibility & agility to business users.

·               Design, develop and maintain relational data models, metadata models, reporting and metrics using the Cognos Business Intelligence suite of tools.

·               Must have strong ability to translate business needs into data requirements

·               Design complex reports and dashboards

·               Must have strong database design skills with direct experience as a data warehouse designer.

·               Must have ETL design experience using SSIS and Data Manager

·               Must have relational database experience using Oracle and SQL server

·               Implement strong BI processes throughout the organization

·               Troubleshoot and diagnose performance issues

·               Performance tuning and query optimization in SQL Server environment

·               Sound knowledge of data warehousing methodologies such as Star Schemas and Normalization.

Required Skills

·         Strong experience with IBM Cognos BI version 10 (Reporting, Analytics & visualization) toolsets and preferably one more reporting tools: Tableau, Spotfire, Qlikview

·         Proficient with Microsoft technologies (Sql Server, SSAS, SSIS)

·         Strong ETL skills

·         Strong data modeling skills

·         Working knowledge with XML

·         Ability to design and implement enterprise database solutions

·         Knowledge of data, master data and metadata related standards, processes, and technology

·         Ability to work with customers to gather requirements

·         Problem solving and debugging skills

·         Proven analytical and organizational skills

·         Strong initiative in recognizing and acting on product improvement opportunities

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills

Required Experience

·         8+ years' experience with Cognos and data modeling

·         Experience with large database applications (multiple terabytes)

·         Undergraduate degree (masters preferred)

·         Retail industry experience preferred.

·         Solid understanding on impacting, emerging and vendor trends in the BI-DW/ Analytical space
