POSITION:  ECOLOGICAL DBA

DURATION: 5 MONTHS 

LOCATION: LONG ISLAND CITY, NY

INTERVIEW: FACE TO FACE ONLY

 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

SCOPE OF SERVICES 

 

Establish a DOHMH Infrastructure to synthesize, analyze, and visualize internally and externally sourced 

 

intelligence for situational awareness, efficient allocation of staff and other agency resources, and identify 

 

those most at-risk.

 

Specifically, this platform will be able to:

 

1. Rapidly combine disparate data stored on databases and datasets, including real world data gathered during a response, and linked data across common fields for integrated analysis;

 

2. Allow emergency response staff to quickly analyze, through visual and computational queries, blended datasets and visualize results through tables, charts and maps for decision makers;

 

3. Effectively allocate staff and other agency resources by minimizing staff travel times and optimizing distribution networks;

 

4. Automatically refresh data pulled from databases during a response and update situational reports in real time;

 

5. Leverage social media and other crowd-sourced data streams for real time analysis during response.

 

6. Easily map geographic information to efficiently identify and locate vulnerable populations and mobilize resources during a response;

 

7. Produce meta data reports on blended datasets and analyses, original data sources and data quality.

 

8. Export blended datasets and reports into a common format for intelligence sharing with other city, state and federal agencies, state and community partners. The Ecological Database Developer will support all aspects of the application design and development, including but not limited to:

 

• technical design

 

• architecture

 

• development

 

• Implementation

 

 

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

-Candidates must meet all requirements below before you send them. 

 

Minimum 4 years experience hands-on database administration using SQL Server 2000/2005/2008.

 

Knowledge with table and stored procedure design, performance tuning, DTS, SSIS.

 

Experience with data integrity, data retention, backups, and disaster planning.

 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

 

Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

 

Ability to analyze and understand complex business processes.

 

A "hands-on" DBA/Database Developer with a proven track record of progressive experience, teamwork and technical skills.

 

Strong technical vision with effective people skills to allow close work with coworkers and senior management.

 

Ability to manage multiple complex projects for internal and external customers.

 

Innovative and creative problem solver, who is results oriented, has an aptitude for learning and can maximize resources while possessing a sense of urgency.
