Position: Senior IT Manager

Our client, a reputable, growing company is looking for a Senior IT Manager to join their team in Waverly, IA as a full-time employee in the area of Life, Annuity and Health Insurance. As a Senior IT Manager, you will partner with business executives to develop strategic technology roadmaps and deliver large-scale technology solutions. This individual will play a key role in the development and implementation of our client's strategy to significantly grow the Consumer business. You will manage full-time staff and contract resources located in Waverly, IA and India. You will interact with business customers located in Waverly, IA and Madison, WI. Your primary responsibilities will include: Project & System Executions (30-40%); Application, Data & Technical Strategy (10-15%); Business Leadership & Customer Relationship (20-30%); and People Leadership (20-30%). Requirements:
* 7+ years of data processing experience with progression through technical and analyst levels to management, including 3 years in the direction of systems development as a strong manager.
* Strong knowledge of SDLC.
* Process improvement experience.
* Prior experience leading staff as well as people leaders.
* Demonstrated experience devising and executing department strategy to align with needs of the business.
* Experience in an environment that has multiple business areas, stakeholders and teams involved with projects that span 1-2 years.
* Strong collaboration skills required to develop technology roadmaps that integrate with the operations, product, and distribution strategies.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent trade-off in related professional work experience.
* Preferred: IT leadership experience in the Insurance / Financial services industry; Experience in supporting Life, Annuity, and Health processing systems and products; Vendor Management; Offshore Resources Management; Project Management; Release Management.

This client will not transfer visas. Local candidates are highly preferred, but they will consider providing relocation assistance for the ideal candidate.
They have a formal relocation program, and offer a couple of different packages depending on the candidate's level, as well as their particular situation.
This person will be bonus-eligible, and the bonus is based on company and individual performance.
If the company meets their performance goal, the bonus target is 15%, and can go up to 22.5%.
The company has met their performance objectives for quite a few years.
This is a Senior IT Manager for maintenance and support, legal and other upgrades for the administration function. On-shore and offshore teams.
12 onshore employees, and about 5-10 contingent/offshore resources (# depends on the current projects).
Can be pulled to other groups.
Oversee project teams with administration support, coaching, training, performance review.
Process review and change internally.
Process improvement is the key driver.
Must have led a staff, as they will oversee 1 or many project teams.
Will work with other Sr. IT Managers. Strong SDLC, 7 years of programming in their background, so they will have come up through the ranks.
Vendor management, offshore management, release management, project management is highly desired.
Dynamic personality who can take a project and run with it.
Insurance industry experience, especially within the Life and Annuity space is helpful, but not required.
Culture is very results oriented yet collaborative.
They don't want a bulldozer.
They should be a team player, and inspire vs. dictate, must be able to relate and communicate with people; create synergies.
The position is open as the Director retired and they promoted the hiring manager into the Director role, so that left this role open.
Candidate should have process improvement both internal and across the business.
