Job Description

The Systems Engineer will be part of a team that manages, monitors, and maintains all networked systems for a 24/7 Infrastructure. The Distributed Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, implementation, and maintenance of complex operating system’s software and related program products. The Systems Engineer will provide technical consulting on the use and integration of applications into the operating environment and help architect and implement infrastructure solutions that meet or exceed our internal and external customers’ expectations. The Engineer will partner with corporate-wide technical staff and large external clients on complex projects and tasks. The role also requires the engineer to identify network related issues and make recommendations for corrective action. The engineer will be required to work independently and with leadership as well as provide coaching to team members

The System Engineer will perform requirements analysis, functional analysis, and synthesis of customer's VMWare requirements. Will build hardware and software technical solutions based on information gathered from submitted requirements documents from Solutions Engineering and customer interviews. Develops project definitions and engineering estimates to include cost estimates and cost benefit analyses. Manages/performs implementation for technical solutions built. Provide inputs on technical refresh and life cycle planning for their systems assigned. Participates in all phases of the production an operational support of the virtualization environment. Designs and prepares technical reports and related documentation. Prepares briefings and prepares updates on project/task status. Attends meetings with internal teams to learn of new requirements, provide technical expertise, respond to tasks, etc. Requires frequent interchanges with the customer to determine customer needs and ensure what is implemented meets those needs. Engineers will build VMWare and/or Citrix servers, ensure security requirements are met, test servers/systems/software/hardware, and integrate/install them into the production environment. Works closely with System Engineering teams to ensure all necessary documentation to operate and maintain the equipment and/or software is in place. Performs performance monitoring and provides documentation of issues and recommendations. Identifies and resolves production issues in an on-call environment.

Candidate Requirements

Very strong knowledge of Intel server hardware, Windows operating systems and VMWare ESX. Strong knowledge of VMWare. Experience utilizing technical knowledge to participate in technical solutions and production troubleshooting. Must have good written and verbal communication skills in the English language. Understanding of business issues facing company and clients.5+ years related IT experience. Associates/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation providing 24 x 7 production support. Strong team player. Self-motivator and ability to work independently .Networking and Storage technology familiarity. Certification in VMware is highly desired. Experience with UpTime IT Systems Management software desired. Linux familiarity and PowerShell or other scripting experiences are desired.
