Position: System Engineer II – AIX/Solaris/Linux System Administrator

Job Description
· Member of cross-functional team that provides level II technical support for the service delivery organization.
· This position is in the system administration discipline. Supports existing Linux/Solaris/AIX systems and is responsible for leading advanced technical troubleshooting and problem resolution in the server environment.
· Leads advanced troubleshooting calls and drives to root cause resolution; makes recommendation for long-term resolution of problems across the enterprise.
· Leads complex initiatives and issues within the server/OS functional technical area as well as cross functional areas.
· Familiar with IBM and/or Intel/SunSparc based server hardware, mid-range server subsystems, storage management (EMC SANs), network configuration, resource management, and related software Vendor products and services
· Ensures adherence to established server technology standards and consults with senior leadership on technology solutions.
· Works closely with the other functional IT areas to determine best practices, tuning, and problem resolution in the server space.
· Recommends strategies for technical aspects of server infrastructure as well as broad system improvements.
· Recommends strategies for process and monitoring improvement in the server area.
· Provides technical consulting on the use & integration of system utilities, tools, and applications in the enterprise server environment.
Candidate requirements
· Proficiency in AIX, Linux and/or Solaris operating system administration.
· Familiar with IBM and/or Intel/SunSparc based server hardware, mid-range server subsystems, storage management (EMC SANs), network configuration, resource management, and related software vendor products and services.
· Experience with Solaris zones and Veritas high availability (VCS cluster) in a highly critical production environment.
· Ability to interpret and understand complex technical requirements, service impact, and business issues facing internal and external clients.
· Solid networking skills as it relates to OS administration and configuration.
· Ability to interpret system resource usage and identify contention and provide performance tuning recommendations.
· 8+ years technical experience
· 5+ years in production support role preferred.
· Bachelor’s degree or technical degree equivalent work experience
