Job Description:

This is Sr. Associate position on the Middleware Engineering Team. The team researches, boards and evolves the most cost-effective software products and enterprise building blocks that improve the efficiency, availability and performance of application servers, middleware gateways and related platforms. The team owns and provides governance along with 24x7x365 3rd level support for the following technologies: WebSphere App Server, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, WMQ, RabbitMQ, Data Power, and WAS. Team works closely with Enterprise Architecture, AD and peer infrastructure teams to identify and fill middleware technology or process gaps.

 

Required Skills:

Expert skills in distributed WebSphere MQ including a strong understanding of design principles for building a scalable, fault-tolerant messaging infrastructure. The candidate must understand JMS, multi-instance queue managers, MQ clustering, publish/subscribe concepts, and MQ security. Below are additional qualifications required in addition to messaging knowledge:

- Strong understanding of WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and the configuration of resources within WAS

- Familiarity of key monitoring metrics in WAS and MQ (Knowledge of Wily Introscope a plus)

- TCP/IP knowledge

- Understanding of J2EE application deployment patterns and n-tier architectures

- Understanding of SOA and web services concepts

- Experience in AIX/Linux systems administration, shell/wsadmin/python scripting, networking, storage and security concepts

- Open to learning new technologies, forward and strategic thinking

- Capable of influencing and driving organizational/process/technology change

- Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)

- Team player, self-motivated, requiring minimal direction and able to work effectively either independently or be highly-collaborative with peers

- Must have an excellent work ethic and customer service skills

- Comfortable in a support role
