Position: Hadoop Admin/Architect – Platform

Location: Remote

Duration: 5+ Months

Client advises, architects, selects, and implements solutions for clients so that they may efficiently run their businesses, with a focus on data analytics in the Cloud. These service areas span IoT, Solution Architecture, data engineering, analytics, AI, ML, and DevOps.  

 
Major Duties & Responsibilities 

1.      Implementation and ongoing administration of Hadoop implementations at client sites or in the cloud. Also involves upgrading Hadoop platforms

2.      Perform upgrade of current Hadoop cluster to higher version

3.      Design, deploy, automate, maintain and manage cloud-based or on-prem production systems, to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of production systems.

4.      Work as part of an operational team and participate in and provide expertise to development teams to troubleshoot known issues.

5.      Monitor, troubleshoot and escalate cluster issues using a variety of open source and proprietary toolsets.

6.      Operationalize Cloud environments and/or Hadoop implementations from the following perspective:

o   Service Delivery: Includes environmental provisioning, maintaining service level agreements and regulatory compliance.  

o   Service Operations: Includes monitoring, orchestration and automation, auditing, access management, incident management, metering and chargeback, cost management and optimization.

o   Governance, Risk and Compliance:  Integrated approach to enterprise security to manage information risk and implement controls needed for governance, risk and compliance.

7.      Perform operating system, service level, and application updates, patches for Hadoop Environments

8.      Evaluate and propose new tools and technologies to meet the needs of the organization. 

9.      Align architecture with business requirements.

10.   Suggest architecture improvements, recommending process improvements.

11.   System troubleshooting and problem solving across cloud platforms and application domains.

12.   Ensuring critical system security is using best fit for purpose security solutions.

Technical Skill Sets (Mandatory):

1. 5+ years of experience in Hadoop administration (preferably Cloudera), architecture and deployments.
2. Knowledge and experience with with at least 2 Cloud platform (AWS, Azure or GCP)
3. Strong experience with creating, optimizing and administering platforms (Cloud or on-premise) Hadoop platforms
4. Experience with working with workloads in the Hadoop platforms and securing Hadoop clusters
5. Must have done good amount of  HDP Migration and upgrade work,
6. DevOps experience;  ie.. (Git + CI/CD + IaC)
7. IaC experience with Terraform/Ansible/CloudFormation...  (2-3 Years)
8. Excellent understanding of Python (3+ Years)
9. Excellent ability to gather and track requirements

Knowledge of the following would be an asset:

·        Experience with configuring and managing cloud data warehouses – Cloudera Hadoop, Snowflake, AWS Redshift  experience considered  

·        Strong Agile methodology knowledge

Travel Expectations:

·    10% travel required as requested by the client after Covid travel restrictions have been removed.
