Job Description:  

Title: Sr. Java Application Build/Release

Location: Westbrook

Job Summary: Recommends, designs, configures, and supports application build and install processes in a service-oriented environment

Type: Full Time

Salary: 80K

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement and maintain a highly automated build and install process
  • Lead the application teams in adopting the best practice of source code management and traceability
  • Establish and maintain change management infrastructure (Subversion)
  • Develop and maintain build scripts (Ant, Maven)
  • Initial troubleshooting of build failures, coordination of resolution efforts and communication with appropriate team members.
  • Merging, versioning, packaging of applications in preparation of installation.
  • Manage application deployment for complex projects in a clustered, load-balanced, service-oriented environment
  • Establish an automated process for running smoke tests to validate success of installs.

Provides 24/7 production support

  • Is a member of a production support team that provides 24/7 problem support
  • Researches, resolves, and recommends solutions to support issues

Recommends, implements, and supports standards and practices

  • Assures standards are applied
  • Collaborates and develops standards and practices for new (or existing) infrastructures and middleware

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in automation build and release techniques for Java applications
  • Source control management utilizing Subversion
  • Maven and Maven repository management tools
  • Apache Ant
  • Continuous Integration tools like Hudson, or Cruise Control
  • Solid core Java knowledge
  • Strong familiarity with Java Enterprise Edition configuration and tuning
  • Understanding of XML and Schema 
  • Solid understanding of SOA, ESB principles and how they may be applied in the application infrastructure
  • Solid understanding of Database management systems; Oracle experience is preferred
  • HTTP Web Servers like Tomcat or Apache
  • Linux/Unix Servers; Able to create complex scripts
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills in 24/7 environment
  • Adept at working with others to develop collaborative solutions
  • Application Server configuration, deployment, and support in a clustered, load balanced environment: Oracle WebLogic Server, Oracle Service Bus, WebLogic Integration/Oracle BPEL, Oracle Data Service Integration and JBOSS experience is preferred
  • Managing and configuring resources such as: JDBC (and driver support), JMS, Message Queues
