Title:                Middleware Administrator (Oracle Weblogic, IBM WebSphere Application Server)

Location:         Glendale AZ 85308

Duration:          6+ Months

 

This Senior level Middleware administrator is an individual with extensive product knowledge, who is expected to be responsible for the design, planning, management, and operational support of our Oracle Weblogic and IBM WebSphere Application Server infrastructure.  It is expected that this Middleware Administrator will be self-sufficient and be able to perform the tasks involved in the role with limited assistance from peers, product documentation and vendor support services. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Configuring and maintaining Oracle WebLogic application and IBM WebSphere Application servers.
  • Architect, install, configure, tune and deploy WebLogic and WAS in a non-clustered and clustered, J2EE environment, with Load Balancers for failover and High Availability (HA)
  • Architecting and implementing disaster recovery environment
  • Installing, patching and maintaining the WebLogic and WAS software
  • Deploying J2EE applications to WebLogic application server and WAS in various formats including AR, WAR and JAR files
  • Manage Java Virtual Machine (JVM) settings and options like class path, heap size and other system settings
  • Manage and configure database connections, through JDBC data-sources/JDBC pools
  • Maintain server configurations and analyze and maintain log files
  • Analyze and modify performance settings to improve operational performance by using OEM, network, OS and other application tools
  • Troubleshoot issues related to the application server and underlying technology stack
  • Coordinates activities within application and infrastructure teams in agile environment
  • Part of DBA team - 24/7 on call support

 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • 7+ years experience with Weblogic and WAS
  • J2EE Administration supporting multiple environments
  • Knowledge of Oracle Weblogic 11g in Solaris environment
  • Excellent understanding of WebLogic Admin Server/Node Manager/Managed Server concepts
  • Excellent understanding of WebSphere Application Server/Node Manager/Managed Server concepts
  • Clustering, Load Balancer and Firewalls working experience
  • Customer focused application support
  • Organized and detailed documentation skills
  • WLST Scripting experience for deployments and configuration
  • Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills within and outside Middleware environment.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Middleware technology stack.
  • Solid understanding of various business practices and process flows.
  • Knowledge of Engineering methodology, Software Engineering principle and Application design.
  • Significant understanding and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the Middleware field is required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and department staff, as described above.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate well with others, to perform work in a team environment, direct and act as a resource for less experienced network administrators and relay necessary information as appropriate.
