Detailed JD:
The team is looking for an exceptional service engineer to provide application and server level support for existing and new technologies in the HR production and pre-production environments. This position will primarily be focused on server technologies including Windows Server, IIS and SQL. The ideal candidate for this position is a subject matter expert on SQL and Windows Server with a hands-on understanding of line of business application architectures. Scripting skills (PowerShell, VBScript, etc.) and experience with related component technologies such as Failover clustering and NLB is also desirable.
Service Engineering responsibilities:
· Implement, operate and improve/optimize new and existing services (integrated and scalable, end-to-end systems, networks, and platforms).
· Manage supportability and troubleshoot the availability of applications, services, and servers.
· Capture data and use standard tools to analyze system performance
· Proactively support multiple, highly complex systems.
· Provide support to fellow engineers.
· Deploy and troubleshoot software applications written by internal and external development teams in the pre-production environment.
· Drive process improvements within the team and the larger organization as a whole.
· Provide proactive coordination across multiple support teams.
· Partner with the development, test and production support teams.
Requirements/Qualifications and Previous Work and Related Experience:
· Sound troubleshooting skills
· Strong SQL management and troubleshooting.
· Strong Windows Server management and troubleshooting
· Familiarity with at least one scripting language (PowerShell, VB, c#, etc..)
· Familiarity with clustering/load balancing technologies (F5,MSCS and NLB)
· Familiarity with web server (IIS) technologies
· Production experience in software installation, configuration, web server support, security, monitoring, hardware load balancing technologies and change control procedures
· Production system experience with Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2, and IIS 6/7
· Production support of Office SharePoint Server 2007 or SharePoint Server 2010 desirable.
· Ability to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast paced and changing environment.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in a faced paced, unstructured environment.
· Sound problem resolution, judgment, negotiating and decision making skills.
· 3+ year experience managing supportability and troubleshooting the availability of applications, properties, systems, networks, and servers for high availability enterprise systems.
· Microsoft certification in one or more disciplines desirable (MCSE, MCDBA, or similar)
