SQL Server DBA Consultant, Lincolnshire, IL
Job Description:
Client is seeking a hands-on SQL Server DBA Consultant to join their technology team. As a member of Information Technology, this role will interact with key business partners and internal technology groups to create and enhance database systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Devise migration strategy from legacy SQL Server databases to SQL Server 2012.
• Debug and troubleshoot database issues though SQL skills and a deep understanding of SQL Server.
• Mentor mid-level SQL Server DBA.
• Manage database performance through capacity management, load balancing, normalization, indexing, and tuning.
• Collaborate on team decisions and project planning.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience administering SQL Server databases.
• 2+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and testing database solutions.
• Real working experience with architecting, implementing and developing ongoing maintenance for SQL Server databases including:
o Database backup and recovery
o Partitioning schemas
o Database monitoring
o Allocating database and box resources
o Performance tuning
• Must feel comfortable working in a dynamic and flexible environment with changing requirements.
• Financial Services Industry experience preferred (Mortgage most specifically).
Skills and Knowledge:
• Strong hands-on Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 RS, and 2012 skills.
• Experience with Microsoft SSRS preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey ideas and solutions to both business and IT teams.
