Title: Middleware (WebSphere) Engineer
Location: Dallas, TX

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Performs configuration, support, maintenance, and monitoring activities for third party applications using any middleware technology including WebSphere Application Server, .NET, Microsoft IIS, Http Server, Tomcat, JBoss etc. with some general direction.
- Performs application code migration activities between development, pre-production, and production environments following established change control processes and procedures.
- Assist with the planning, coordination and implementation of the platform while troubleshooting problems and working with other internal service providers to resolve issues during implementation and maintenance.
- Responsible for the configuration, integration, support and maintenance of middleware technologies, providing morning health checks and application verifications on weekends.
- Ensure that the platform is in compliance with IT policies and standards and agreed upon service levels.
- Assist with the planning, coordination and implementation of the platform while troubleshooting problems and working with other internal service providers to resolve issues during implementation and maintenance.
- Provide input into the design and collaborate with the architects on the implementation.
- Documents procedures and processes related to configuration, operational and security settings.
- Provides platform capacity planning, metrics and performance tuning recommendations.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
- 7 plus years of proven hands-on experience with setting up and maintaining distributed middleware.
- Experience with working on both Windows and Linux server environments and demonstrated use of basic Linux commands for managing applications.
- Five years of experience developing and automating platform administration with scripting technologies like Perl, Python, batch, shell etc.
- Five years of experience with configuration of LDAP, certificates, security, authentication and authorization etc.
- Understanding of server security and folders and how they relate to application folders and security.
- Experience working with data source connectivity to various platforms like Oracle, SQL Server etc.
- Ability to quickly learn and practically apply new concepts or principles.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to manage large projects and upgrades and perform necessary communication and coordination to management, end users and developer community.
- Ability to use appropriate analysis, judgment, and logic when solving problems and making decisions.
- Strong active listening, written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to present to all levels of the organization and tailor message appropriately for the audience.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to provide estimates. Strong problem-solving skills, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to balance multiple efforts and complete deliverables on time with minimal supervision.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Certification in related technologies is a plus. Experience with desktop or application virtualization is a big plus.
- Application support of Atlassian products (Jira, Fisheye Crucible, Crowd, Nexus IQ) very helpful, but not required
- Experience with administration of middleware and or database systems.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and automated configuration management tools.
