JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are currently seeking a JSP/Oracle Developer to join our IT Group.  This position will be responsible for supporting our overall vision for providing powerful technology tools and processes, enabling project leaders to make good and timely decisions.  In turn, this will enable project leaders to exceed their customer's expectations.

PRIMARY ROLE DESCRIPTION:

 

JSP Application Development
Performs medium complexity (i.e. application modules) analysis, design, development and unit testing of software applications from user requirements and design documents. The candidate also resolves defects encountered during various testing cycles. The candidate performs analysis, design, development and unit testing of complex software applications from user requirements and design documents.

Report Development

Develop launcher forms and reports, leveraging Oracle Reports, Java Server Pages, Discoverer Reports and Oracle reports based on user requirements and design documents.  Utilizes PL/SQL to query and process data within the tables of an Oracle-based ERP system to update existing and develop new reports.  Work closely with Messer's Project Solutions Manager to review report designs and programming efforts. 

SECONDARY ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Mobile Application Development

Messer is currently evaluating the use of mobile devices in Operations. This role includes the potential for application development on the iOS and Android platforms.

 

Production Support

Provide ERP application technical support to Messer's Support Services group for tier 2 support issues. Support and or performs necessary maintenance of business systems.

 

Technical Skills:

 

Fundamental understanding of relational database concepts:

Indices, data types, entity relationship diagrams, normalization, cardinality, data integrity (not null, unique, check, primary/foreign keys)

Fundamental understanding of SQL programming concepts:

Select, update, insert, delete, grouping commands, unions
Joining tables (inner, outer.)
Creating tables, views, functions, packages, temporary tables, procedures, triggers, database links
Transactions (Commit, Rollback..)

Fundamental understanding of programming concepts:

Control structures (CASE, IF THEN ELSE, LOOPING.), operators, expressions, functions, modular programming structure, pointers, arrays, i/o, data types, unit testing , version control

Fundamental report writing concepts:
Report structure (Headers/footers, pages, detail), parameters, formulas, grouping, sorting, aggregation, sub-reports Deep understanding of the individual report writing tool(s) they are responsible for.

Fundamental understanding of software programming architecture concepts:
Understands the basic differences in the areas of  operating systems, user interfaces, databases and  deployment methods.

Fundamental understanding of security model concepts:
Permissions (view, insert, update, delete), groups, roles, inheritance, password policies

Fundamental Business Understanding
Fundamental understanding of the basic purpose and function of individual departments within a company (i.e. - Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Information Technology)

Fundamental Project Management / SDLC

Ability to document requirements, define scope,  and  manage deliverables, budgets, schedules, and limited resources on small to medium projects. Intermediate Technical Communication
Ability to communicate both written and verbal at any technical level in a way that they can understand. User manuals, knowledgebase articles, training classes, support documents
Ability to write technical specifications, requirement documents, functional documentation, etc...
