a. It is a Linux distribution process which is used for our developer machines.
b. (Just FYI – dev machines are Ubuntu 11.4 and Production machines are Redhat)
Windows Side:
Desktop support:
· Provides support for desktops and laptops. Load / reload MindTree standard image on desktop / laptop as necessary
· Hardening the desktops to ensure proper security posture related to OS, network and data.
· Installation and configuration of productivity tool like MS office , e-mail client and other software / tools as per MindTree's standard
· Support to load various tools and application like MSDN, Visual studio, SQL / Oracle (Server and client) as per the project requirement on a best effort basis
· To maintain and update the inventory of static IP/ dynamic IP
· Registering and updating the anti-virus tool on the clients periodically per MindTree policy. Diagnosing and rectifying any virus problems that can be fixed by the anti-virus tools
· Install & Configure VPN client software provided by customer / MindTree on Desktop/Laptop
· Configure network parameters, User ID, network printer defaults, and agent configuration
· Install standard device and appropriate device driver to the existing system (e.g., external modem, disk, printer, scanner, display)
· Modify an existing system unit as in a hardware upgrade (to add functionality) or downgrade (to remove functionality) including device driver or a modification to the existing hardware
· Monthly and Weekly Reporting
· Maintains Inventory of all the hardware and software assets
· E-waste disposal
· Print/phone and video conference support
· First level support for corporate portals and applications (mPower/peoplehub etc)
· Support local devices (network gears, servers, backup and communication links) in coordination with the respective tower heads
Vendor Management:
· Maintaining database of the various vendors with details like contact person, telephone nos. escalation matrix, response time and resolution time commitments etc.
· Install, remove and upgrade the third party applications on the desktop as per the procedure defined by MindTree IT or vendors.
· Logging calls with vendors. Coordination with vendors to get the problems resolved as per SLAs. Escalation of problems to regional CIS head, if a problem is not resolved per the committed timelines
Others:
· Good soft skills (written and spoken English)
· E-mail, Excel and Powerpoint skills
· Troubleshooting capability
· Follow up with customers and due diligence
