BSEE in Electrical Engineering

 

Professional Experience:

 

7-10 Years of Electronic Component engineering. 

5-7 Years of hands-on components engineering for a design engineering organization using a domestic and off-shore contract manufacturing model.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

·         Working independently, or under the direction of design and/or sustaining engineers, the component engineer makes key contributions in the identification, specification, documentation, qualification and life cycle management of custom, semi-custom and off-the-shelf electrical electronic and electromechanical components used to manufacture larger system level products.

·         Component types include integrated circuits, capacitors, resistors, inductors, sensors, transducers, crystals, oscillators, connectors, wire and cable, transformers, motors, electromechanical devices, printed circuit boards, and purchased electronic subassemblies.  Board mounted components will be both thru-hole and SMD.

·         Issue KO component and assembly part numbers and descriptions as defined by approved conventions.  Support internal engineering customers and outside development partners in this manner.

·         Capture detailed performance requirements of individual components required by the system level design in written components specifications.  Capture these specifications in the engineering document control archive.Contribute to the creation of component spec standard templates.

·         Identify and document tests necessary to qualify new candidate material against new or existing component specifications.

·         Contribute to the Electronic CAD Library (schematic capture and PCB layout) in areas of component electrical, mechanical and documentation attributes.

·         Identify weaknesses and limitations of existing document control policies and procedures as they apply to component engineering and life cycle management.

·         Manage PCN and EOL database for all electrical, electronic and electromechanical components.

 

Build and manage AML/AVL data of KO item master for electrical and electronic components.

Work closely with contract manufacturers to identify and resolve any AML/AVL mismatches.

 

Create and actively pursue backlog of prioritized component related cost reduction opportunities.

Work closely with component suppliers to stay abreast of component life cycle issues.
