Job description:
· Solid Android development experience, who's familiar with any number of techniques for designing and building high-quality software, including experience with: developing application specifications, various object and data modeling techniques, database design, quality assurance best-practices and implementation support.
· This role is a demanding, highly dynamic and technically challenging position.
· To be successful you must be a top-notch Android/Java programmer and committed to becoming an integral part of our development team.
· You will need to be self-driven and be able to operate independently with little guidance.
· Works with product management, operations, innovation, new business and customer experience teams to define necessary requirements for new initiatives/products.
· Translates customer requirements into detailed technical requirements and architecture for new or existing products.
· Configures software in a test environment to prototype production environments.
· Defines documents and performs necessary tests to ensure product performance, availability and reliability.
· Defines and documents operational processes to provide consistently high quality customer experience, while streamlining operations and reducing costs at the same time.
· Develops full set of technical requirements for a product which interfaces with existing support systems (including billing, provisioning, authentication/ authorization, etc).
· Implements and maintains new and existing products, including integration with the monitoring and management infrastructure.
· Provide escalated/tier-3 customer support for all supported products and services.
· Works with other IT and other technology teams to refine specifications for technical designs.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and test applications from the ground up
- Work with outside data sources and API's
- Develop and deploy Android OS 1.6+ based applications using Java
- Troubleshoot, optimize and performance tune applications
- Work closely with Product Management and design teams to execute solutions
- Actively participates in team process and use of methodologies including Agile.
· Leads very complex engineering analyses on large design projects.
· May guide the work of external consultant groups.
· Participates in contract negotiations with vendors.
· Prepares and presents recommendations to senior management.
· Position is a knowledge leader. Work results have significant impact across the business unit.
Required Skills: - Strong OO (Object Oriented) design and development experience
- Experience with Android SDK
- Able to work with data outside API's
- Ability to understand and parse KML, JSON and serialized data
- Experience with embedded relational databases (SQLite)
- Experience with Http and consuming RESTful API's
- Understanding of Multi-threaded interface design
- Should have at least one or two functioning apps in the Android market place
· Superior communication skills to lead and mentor other team members and present technology to leadership. Clearly express complex concepts and transfers knowledge to others.
· Responsible for analysis, design, and delivery of major new systems.
· Provides guidance to development team in the overall implementation.
· Coordinate with other teams impacted by new system(s). Ex: New merchant service targeted for Canada or new version of kiosk services for digital offering.
· Architect x-functional applications that affect other teams and departments.
· Develop architecture of EPC.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related field and minimum of 12 years of related experience is required. Master's degree in a related field is preferred.

· The role is responsible for designing, developing and implementing native Android applications.
· To be successful in this role one must be a subject matter expert in Java, Android, and either Android Studio, Eclipse or similar.
· This role requires good communication skills, both with team members and business contacts.
· In addition, the successful developer must be able to work with minimal supervision on multiple concurrent projects and experience mentoring junior developers.
Responsibilities
· Develop new or maintain existing mobile programs based on specifications
· Develop, implement and maintain unit tests of programs
· Participate in the design of new or changing programs
· Participate in functional test planning and testing for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
· Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
· Share knowledge by effectively documenting work
· Stay current with changes in the technical area of expertise
· Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
· Work with the team to ensure the quality of the assigned application(s), functional area(s) or project(s)
· Respond quickly/effectively to production issues by taking responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution
· Proactively serve as a troubleshooting resource and subject matter expert across the team

Requirements
· (4+ Years) Expertise in Android SDKs, DDMS and frameworks. You know Android inside and out!
· Experience developing, releasing, supporting, and evolving an Android application framework
· Deep OOD/OOP skills coupled with several years building successful Android applications
· Published apps in Google Play, or enterprise Apps available for review
· Heavy UI experience creating custom adaptors, composite views, animation transitions, and XML drawables to build reusable fragments for phones & tablets on multiple screen sizes and resolutions.
· Experience with heavy image processing through lazy loading, Disk LruCache or similar
· Good knowledge of and experience with the Android design guidelines, user interface design patterns, visual design elements, and development methodologies
· Experience debugging, testing, code reviews, and performance tuning other engineer's Android app(s)
· Experience using version control and defect tracking tools (CVS, Subversion or GIT & Test Director)
· Accessing and processing Restful APIs or XML data using background Services, Receivers, Binders, and SQLLite storage
· Experience writing Android unit tests
· Working knowledge of 9-patch, Proguard, PNG Optimizers, Compatibility Library, ABS, SVG, Android Annotations, Renderscript
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
· Open-Source Android debugging and unit testing tools (Roboelectric) is a plus
· Android Studio & Gradle is a plus
· TestFlight is a plus
· Subversion is a plus
· iOS Development and/or mobile web development knowledge is a plus
