Position : SQL Server DBA

Location : New York City, NY

Duration : 24 Months possible to extend

Local to NY Only, Must F2F interview.

 

Required Activities following areas:

•             Manage requirements gathering and analysis

•             Support Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 databases

•             Support Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 replication

•             Support Microsoft Windows 2003-2012 Enterprise Servers

•             Implement and support Microsoft Clustering Services

•             Install and configure Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2012 and Microsoft Windows 2003/2008/2012 servers

•             Monitor Microsoft SQL Server activity on a proactive basis and tune the system for optimal performance

•             Create and manage SSIS packages

•             Monitor and troubleshoot ETL jobs daily using BCP, DTSRUN, SSIS and other tools

•             Maintain error and system maintenance logs

•             Manage and maintain database changes in Development, QA, Staging and Production

 

These activities will encompass all project life cycle phases including production support (24/7) and documentation of all tasks in accordance with Department of Education standards.

 

The servers and databases support applications that display student and staff data.  The applications involved are in Visual Studio .Net with SQL Server for data management and Active Directory for Identity management.

 

The minimum core competencies required of the consultant are:

•             Eight or more years of technical experience

•             Five or more years of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 administration experience

•             Three or more years of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 administration experience

•             Experience troubleshooting stored procedures and queries

•             Performance analysis skills

•             Experience troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 2003-2012 Enterprise servers

•             Good writing and verbal communication skills

•             Active Directory, LDAP (desired)

•             Biztalk (desired)

 

Attributes: Personable, determined, meticulous, cooperative, flexible and punctual

Schedule: Ability to be available as needed for on-call 7X24 shift rotations, overtime and off hours support.

 

Certifications: MCDBA SQL 2005 (or more recent) preferred.
