Job Description
Our client is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer

Must Haves:
  • Someone who has advanced in-depth experience with design, configuration, implementation and administration of VMware vSphere virtualization technologies in an Client server environment. Experience with Client blade servers and enclosures using Virtual Connect hardware is desired.
  • Provides technical configuration, implementation and maintenance support of multiple VMware vSphere 5.0 to 6.5 environments.
  • Performs installation, configuration and administration of a VMware vSphere environment.
  • Assists with implementing designed environment and assist with testing the environment.
  • Develops documentation to support ongoing maintenance and specific problem resolution.
  • Assists in maintaining computer policies and procedures.
  • Addresses server functionality and performance in a proactive manner.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software and ensures scalability and appropriate integration with other systems
  • Perform vCenter & ESXi patching to ensure security and that it is kept up to date
  • Respond to and troubleshoot problem tickets

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience configuring, installing, & troubleshooting with VMware virtualization technologies in a large complex enterprise environment.
  • Current VMware Certifications is strongly preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of VMware vCenter and vSphere ESXi 6.5 and above
  • Solid understanding of virtualization capacity planning, sizing and optimization is highly desirable
  • Experience with vRealize Operations Manager 6.x is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of VMware image level backup solutions is preferred
  • Experience with scripting tools such as Powercli to automate repeatable tasks is preferred
  • Experience with VDI solutions such as Citrix XenDesktop and VMware Horizon View is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of different storage protocols, (SAN, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS)
  • Experience with enterprise storage platforms such as EMC VNX, VMAX, XtremIO, Unity
  • Knowledge of networking concepts TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Routing, VLANs, firewalls and F5 load balancer
  • Solid knowledge of all versions of Windows operating systems. Linux/Unix knowledge is desirable
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to learn quickly to solve complex problems in high pressured situations
  • Communication (Oral and Written) – takes the initiative to communicate accurate, up-to-date plans and information to Management and co-workers. Expresses thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing. Listens and understands the view of others. Effectively transfers thoughts and expresses ideas orally in individual or group situations. Shares information with others to help them perform their jobs and seeks information from others.
  • Experience with supporting vRealize automation is desirable
