Position: Sr. Java Developer

Location: San Diego, CA

Duration: 6 + months

Interview Process: Phone then F2F. 

 

This project will be focused on a complete redesign and rewrite a Web Registration application. The current application was developed using Perl and accesses a DB2 database. The existing web application also invokes services using our proprietary infrastructure registry. The redesigned, enhanced, and rewritten WebReg 2.0 application will be done in Java/J2EE, using Spring MVC, hibernate, web services, DB2, Tomcat, in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux server environment. It will consume native Java services as well as z/OS Ivory COBOL web services. Our IDE is Eclipse-based running in a Windows 7 environment.

 

The consultant will be responsible for understanding the legacy business logic and then be heavily involved in the technical design, documentation, and coding for the new business logic, web services and database layers.

 

The successful candidate will have strong mid- and backend- design and development experience along with good front-end skills.

 

Must have some combination of the following:

 

•         Java/J2EE

•         Spring MVC framework (3.1)

•         jQuery (esp. FullCalendar plugin)

•         JSP

•         Hibernate-JPA-ORM-JTA

•         DB2 SQL

•         Apache Tomcat

•         AJAX

•         JSON

•         CSS/HTML

•         Familiarity with Linux and Shell programming

•         Services: REST/SOAP

•         Creating/Consuming web services

•         Eclipse, SVN

•         JavaScript

•         Servlets

•         Unit and Integration testing

•         Ability to prepare effective technical (design, test document) and non-technical (mock-up, requirements) documentation

•         Experience in interfacing with non-technical users throughout the development life cycle

 

Prefer Experience With:

 

•         jBoss

•         Maven

•         JMS/ActiveMQ

•         PERL

•         Development tools such as Fire Bug

•         HP automated testing tools or similar

•         Demonstrated experience working independently and as a team member throughout all stages of software development.

•         Ability to develop applications from wireframe diagrams and written requirements

•         Mobile optimization and responsive design concepts

•         Academic student applications.
