Project Description:

VMWare Administrator supporting Transition & Transformation organization in support of server implementation to  include hardware and operating system configuration, installation of applications,  installation of supported  vendor and IBM tool set, problem management resolution of issues  and security compliance of systems for production readiness.

 

Special skill requirements: 

The candidate will provide 24 x 7 project support for the client. Provide support of the infrastructure by performing administrative functions of the ESX Operating Systems (hardware and software) to include vendor supported tools, support of IBM standard tools and maintain servers in accordance to customer agreed upon security settings. Individual must posses an in-depth knowledge of multiple OEM HW and versions of the ESX OS, be able to resolve complex issue, and experience in data center relocations. VMWare certification is desired.

 

Candidate will need to have strong communication skills both verbal and written, have the ability to work independently (self starter) and in team environment, ability to response/support critical situations (Crit Sit) and quickly adapt to defined process and procedures.

Must have be SME on current Operating Systems.  (ESX Server 3.x, vSphere 4.x)

Hands On experience with Hardware Platforms

Must possess hands on knowledge of hardware configuration.

Advance Installation Skills-              

Must have hands-on experience in performing server builds via automated tool set.  Ability to build serer from scratch.  Able to document install process

VirtualCenter

Must understand how to use VirtualCenter in an enterprise environment, including but not limited to patching, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Operating System Configuration/Tuning

Must possess a very good hands-on routine ESX  System administration and configuration experience

Clustering / HA / DRS / VMotion

Must possess ability to configure ESX in a cluster, set up HA, DRS, and VMotion functions.

Windows

Must possess working knowledge of how to prepare virtual machines for Windows OS installation.

Security Analyst

FDA Knowledge is a plus.  Understanding of server hardening a plus.

Volume/Storage/File system Management:

Must have knowledge of . HBA config, SAN. Disk config. Mirroring, RAID, Multi-pathing.  Understanding of SAN best practices.

Network Management Skills

Working Knowledge of  NIC config, Link Aggregation (EtherChannel, dladm, bonding), IPMP, Routing, VLAN, VLAN tagging, virtual switch setup.

Template creation, configuration, deployment.

Solid knowledge of how to create, configure, and deploy virtual machines via a template

Active Directory

Must possess hands on knowledge of Active Directory
