Title: CDL Driver

Location: Salem, OR

This is Direct Hire

Pay: .20 per mile plus $150 daily pay.

 

Summary: The CDL Driver drives tractor-trailer trucks between plants or destinations delivering products, material, and parts for client. This position may load and unload trucks while ensuring all safety procedures are being followed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

 

Check tractor-trailers to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.

Perfor an effective and competent Pre- and Post-Trip inspection at the beginnging and end of each shift.

Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.

Safely drive tractor-trailers between plants and other destinations.

Maintain logs of working hours or of tractor-trailer service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regualtions or be able to accurately utilize an EOBR (Electronic On-Board Recording Device) or learn how to use one within 30 days of employement.

Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.

Report vehicle accidents, defects, damage and related deficiencies IMMEDIATELY to the Supply Chain Manager and the Fleet Manager.

Report all traffic violations within 30 days of the occurrence.

Safely operates forklift to load outgoing trucks as required.

Safely operates forklift to unload trucks as required.

Accurately checks in received items as required.

Provide load copies to appropriate client personnel.

Inspects received materials and items to ensure they are free from damage.

Ensure orders being shipped are correct and undamaged.

Completes daily forklift inspections as required.

Uses extreme caution in driving forklift to ensure driver and bystander safety.

Follow all safety procedures.

Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned.

 

Qualifications:

TO perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions commensurate with applicable Federal reqgulations.

 

Education/Experience:

High School or GED desired

Be a least 23 years of age

Must have proper CDLwith Air Brake, HazMat and Tank endorsements  or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment license

Must obtain Forklift Certification or be able to certify within 60 days of employment

Have verifiable flatbed experience with emphasis on load securement

Have verifiable continuous 4-season experience in 2 of the last 3 years.

Be able to pass a Road Evaluation test

Have or be able to pass and maintain a current DOT physical

Not be convicted of a DUI or DWI in the last three years.

Not be involved in more than one preventable crash in the past two years.

Not have failed a drug or alcohol test

 

Computer Skills:

Ability and knowledge to learn Microsoft Office applications needed for positions.
