Location: McLean, VA

Data / Business Analyst
The role of the business analyst on Hilton's Enterprise Information Management team is to support the deployment of data assets to both the legacy and emerging data warehouses through the four key phases of development:
Requirements Gathering
-Through a well-defined BRD or user stories, ensure that the needs and wants of the business are documented, thoroughly understood by all stakeholders and available for future review and consumption.
-Understand the existing model of the data asset and the changes that need to happen to support the work being defined
-As part of a project, answer or research business questions for the business and development team
-Support the overall team and Project Manager to the best of their ability
-Be a subject matter export on the metadata tools (including SQL) Hilton uses by leveraging them on a daily basis to document and research data lineage, business logic and data assets.
Architecture & Development
-Review and provide feedback to the architecture and build team during data model and solution development to ensure the final deployment will meet current, future and anticipated needs.
-In order to facilitate discussions between the technical and business teams, translate technical processes into language and visualizations easily understood by the business
-Explain the impact of business requirements on technical design and explain the impact of technical design on business requirements
Testing
-Assist the business and technical teams with document and define test cases by leveraging prior experience, learned best practices and their understanding of known "gotchas" during both technical and user acceptance testing
-Ensuring that non-functional, non-traditional test cases are included in the list of test cases
-Assisting the business with defining success criteria based upon their prior experience, learned best practices and their own understanding of expected differences
-Maintaining and documenting EIM's list of best practices for developing test cases
Deployment
-Ensuring that documentation in the Data Town Square and associated SharePoint lists is up-to-date and current with all changes and knowledge gleaned during all phases of the project
-Act in a supporting role during any training initiatives which are led by the business
-Ensure that known gaps and wants related to the project are correctly logged in the appropriate areas (Jira, EIM Requests, etc.) so that all requested work is recorded for future deployment and consideration.
-Create and deliver training and documentation for functional requirements during the hand-over to the EIM support team.
-Using SharePoint and wiki pages to explain and articulate data ingestion processes (including business processes) in a straight-forward, clear, engaging manner
Job Qualifications (Required)
-Knowledge of SQL, systems development life cycle, Agile, waterfall and data warehousing principles
-Ability to work independently with business partners, technical team members and company leaders in a productive and profession manor
-Proven capability to develop documentation (including illustrations) that combine technical and business understanding into a comprehensive view of the how and why
-Aptitude for analyzing complex data load processes and business processes to uncover the fundamental reasons for differences and unexpected values
-Strong experience in guiding business partners through the discovery process to synthesize common ground for functional and non-functional requirements
-Ability to create visual diagrams and written descriptions that document and clearly explain technical and business processes related to data ingestion and assets
Preferred Job Qualifications
-Project management and leadership experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
-Exposure to big data warehousing concepts and tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Zeppelin, Spark and NiFi
-Familiarity and experience with customer relationship management data assets and concepts
-Understanding of master data management and governance principles and activities
Required Software Experience
Oracle 11.2, MS Visio, MS SQL Server, MS SharePoint, MS Excel
Preferred Software Experience
Tableau, JIRA, Confluence, Hadoop, HIVE, Zeppelin, Talend (Master Data Management), Informatica, Tableau, OBIEE, MicroStrategy, Zeppelin
