Description:
- Plans, manages and implements technical projects for the Cloud platform overall; ensures deliverables are committed, communicated clearly and delivered on time.
- Including but not limited to: account setup, initial IAM setups; network configurations; DR methodologies and frameworks; backup methodologies and frameworks; initial security frameworks and tools; Cloud monitoring and logging methodologies and tools, etc.
- Owns and manages certs and other security credentials for the Cloud accounts assigned to them.
- Liaisons with and provides reports and data for Compliance activities such as audits, reviews and investigations
- Opens support and investigation cases with vendor support, acts as a liaison to them on behalf of the other technical teams
- Provides directions and leadership for other technical teams in analyzing and resolving technology infrastructure challenges
- Manages usage cost trends across cloud & non-cloud solutions; identifies and implements (or coordinates implementation of) cost optimization opportunities for the resource usage
- Monitors reliability trends and proactively implements measures to increase its reliability and resiliency
- Proposes and implements strategies for operational control of cloud assets, such as Tagging standards
- Partners with cloud operations teams ensuring operational standards are in place to support business requirements and SLA's
- Participates in long-range strategies and planning for operational success
- Maintains and applies current knowledge of technology; keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies, and helps determine if/how they can be used to add value to the business
- Establish standards to streamline processes across cloud and non-cloud environments
- Builds relationships with the Plan and Run teams to help drive technology strategy
- Acts as change agent for technology teams to delivery on unanticipated technology opportunities and supports key business initiatives
- Drives simplification efforts through existing infrastructure environments
- Identifies opportunities to monitor and alert cloud and non-cloud environments - enhancing the ability to reduce production outages and address performance and capacity issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis or a related study or equivalent experience
- Experience with Insurance and/or Finance industry preferred
- 5+ years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including infrastructure engineering, infrastructure operations, technical architecture, solutions design and management. Minimum of 2 years deep technical understanding of utility compute design and implementation
- Minimum of 2 years experience leading and motivating cross-functional teams to achieve on-time completion of projects
- A passion for technology that extends into personal projects and hobbies. A thinker of everything technical at heart
- Strong knowledge of AWS technologies. AWS certification preferred
- Strong automation and orchestration experience, Puppet and Jenkins background preferred. Comfortable with infrastructure-as-code concepts
- Strong understanding high availability and disaster recovery as it applies to private and hybrid clouds
- Strong understanding of various compute technologies including x86, virtual infrastructure and Linux
- Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating System preferred
- Strong knowledge of Amazon Web Services especially around the network, security and compute stack
- Significant experience working on challenges involving scaling, automation, continuous integration and continuous deployment
- Experience with cloud offerings and proven experience with IAAS, SAAS and PAAS implementations
- Experience with enterprise applications served through conventional data center architecture and hybrid cloud alternatives required
- Self starter that demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Ability to handle competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Able to quickly learn a broad array of technologies and apply knowledge to real-world problems; effective under aggressive timelines and high pressure situations
- Excellent written and verbal communications; effective interpersonal skills; strong formal presentation abilities.
- Strong ability to build, maintain and grow internal and external relationships with proven leadership skills required in order to create, maintain and enhance partnerships
- High level of initiative and ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated success partnering with both internal and external service providers to drive innovation, monitor and mitigate risk, ensure provider sustainability and internal customer satisfaction
- Experience working in applications, systems or IT operations
- Demonstrates knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products
- Experience working in an agile team environment
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex problems or processes, identify and understand requirements, and develop alternate experience designing
- Developing, testing and deploying applications/systems using proven or emerging technologies, in a variety of technologies and environments
- Experience with automation tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Requires working knowledge of two or more programming languages
