Title: SQL Data Architect
Location: Glenwood, IL
Duration: 2-3 months
The candidate is expected to work in hands-on design and development of Data transfer/refresh mechanism for a Reporting data repository
We currently 5have a transactional database and a reporting database, (Both of them in SQL Server 2008). The reporting database is in Star Schema.
We are looking to have an almost realtime replication and transformation from the transactional database to the reporting database. For this, we need to explore options on what is the best way to accomplish this.
We need someone who has
> Implemented something like this before so that we can explore the pros and cons of options and come up with an optimal solution.
> Our initial analysis says that we need to use the Change Data Capture (CDC) option of SQL server 2008. If that is the way to go, someone who has implemented CDC will be of tremendous value to plan the implementation and guide the execution.
> We need to know what are the repercussions of using CDC on
- Load on the transactional database
- Performance of the transactional database
- Lag time in replication
> We have written SSIS scripts to do a onetime load from the transactional to the reporting database. We want to know how much of this can be reused to perform the realtime replication? or do we need to throw away all of this and write it from scratch.
Please do let me know in case of any queries.
