Description
Responsible for functioning as a Database Administrator as part of a five person Oracle DBA team.
As such priorities are given to: server installation and configuration, backup and recovery activities, tuning, server maintenance and troubleshooting, database monitoring, and utility installation, configuration and use to enhance database function.
Principal Duties:
1. Perform database analysis tasks on various sized databases. Analysis to include consulting with applications personnel on definition and set up, assist in the installation of new systems, and devise and implement back up procedures to guarantee data integrity and security.
2. Perform database design functions, including physical database design, configuration, and implementation.
3. Perform tasks on the database including monitoring and performance tuning.
4. Provide backup and recovery support to databases to insure data security and integrity.
5. Provide consultative services to applications teams in the area of database design.
6. Manage schema changes.
7. Perform planning functions producing detailed plans (using automated tools) of the work required and associated time frames.
8. Participate in the ongoing creation of and adherence to established standards for database design and function.
9. Participate in post implementation reviews, at the request of the applications group, to review services provided and determine what modifications might be warranted to provide a better level of service.
10. Demonstrate working knowledge of Oracle technologies including RAC, ASM, Dataguard, RMAN, and OEM.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management Science or equivalent experience.
2. Three to five years experience in data processing, with at least two years concentrated hands on experience with Oracle in a UNIX environment.
