WINDOWS SERVER SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR:

 

Contractor Responsibilities

 

The Windows Server & AD Administrator will report to the Computing Services Manager and will complete the following tasks:

 

• Participate as a project team member in service delivery and service support projects to deliver new technology and to enhance existing technology

 

• Perform day-to-day preventive maintenance tasks to ensure that Windows Servers and AD are available and performing appropriately, and that they are highly available to partners and the end-user community, and that any issues are being proactively resolved.

 

• Act as third level support within the incident management process for the Windows server hardware and operating systems.

 

• Perform routine capacity planning assessments and demand management to identify and remediate potential capacity issues before they occur.

 

• Perform all configuration management processes needed to stay compliant with PCI, industry security best practices, and City security standards. • Provision new physical and/or virtual Windows servers following SOPs for baseline configuration and security hardening and deliver to customers

 

• Perform monthly, scheduled afterhours patch implementation across 150+ Windows servers

 

• Assist partners and customers with AD Organizational Unit, Group Policy, Group, Computer object design, creation, customization and support.

 

• Participate in afterhours on-call rotation to provide support during incidents

 

 

 

• Provide weekly server totals and AD usage metrics and statistics

 

 

 

Skills Required

 

• 2yrs of technical experience implementing and supporting standalone and/or virtual servers (Windows 2000, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 R2) in an organization with no fewer than 100 servers • 2yrs of experience supporting AD forests and domains in a user base no fewer than 3,000 user objects.

 

• Experience working with server backup software to ensure that business continuity and disaster recovery requirements and/or expectations are met.

 

• 2yrs experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting all object types native to Active Directory 2008 R2 in a single domain model, with delegated administration.

 

• 2yrs experience creating design specifications, implementing and supporting major x86 server hardware manufacturers; Dell, HP and IBM

 

• 2yrs experience supporting Active Directory Group Policy to enforce security policies and password policies for Windows Servers and end point physical and virtual Windows desktops

 

• 2yrs experience supporting servers in a Cisco based, multi segmented, routed and firewalled enterprise network using TCP/IP v4

 

 

 

• 1yr experience provisioning and supporting Windows DHCP scopes and DNS Host A and SRV records

 

• Excellent written and verbal communication; facilitate meetings, presentation skills, working across multiple business functions, writing formal business and/or technical recommendations

 

 

 

Other Desired Skills

 

• Experience supporting blade server hardware: Cisco UCS and HP

 

• VMWare vSphere 4.x experience

 

• Windows scripting: PowerShell, VBscript, WSH

 

• Experience with VMWare vCenter Configuration Manager (VCM) for change detection, patch management and compliance reporting

 

• Experience with SolarWinds Orion and/or Splunk
