Systems Domain Architect

Location:  Sunnyvale, CA

Duration: 6 months

 

Job Responsibilities:

   Will have accountability for the system and infrastructure design,

   development, testing and deployment of systems solutions to functional

   customers to address their business needs.

   Provide a leadership role on technical project teams and handle and

   manage technical project related infrastructure issues and challenges.

   Accurate and effective communication and ability to make and keep

   commitments are key to the role.

   Translate business requirements into infrastructure technology

   requirements, using NetApp IT standards to determine appropriate It

   standard based system solutions.

   Work within a cross-functional team to provide technical expertise in

   the design and planning thru deployment of holistic

   system/infrasturcture solutions.

   Drive delivery of infrastructure solutions to meet the business

   requirements in a managed timeframe; adhering to a project management

   office for process;, resulting in  a high quality standards and service

   for deployment.

   Provide solutions to maximize the performance, uptime, and

   supportability

   Have strong skills in the following areas: Strong VMware based

   experience, Solaris global zones/containers, networking, database

   management (Oracle and MS Solutions), AIX VIO/LPAR/WPAR, etc.

   Provide mentorship and training of other associates at the same level or

   below on technologies, processes and tools; and to handle more complex

   issues/requests.

   Create and maintain project documentation

   Create design documents using Visio as the documentation tool

   Exposure to data center migration strategies and methodologies

 

Experience and Skills:

   8 -10 years of relevant experience is required.

   Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree is required; or equivalent

   experience.

   Linux and Windows Virtualization , Solaris Containers and customer

   engagement/service skills are top priority.

   Excellent oral and written communication skills.

   Demonstrated strong knowledge of the following OS/technologies: Solaris

   RedHat Enterprise Linux, VMware ESX/ESXi, Windows, NAS/SAN (Fibre

   channel/IP/iSCSI), Load balancer concepts.

   Demonstrated strong knowledge of current storage solutions (NetApp

   product experience is a huge plus!)

   Ability to work collaboratively and lead a team of other Systems/Domain

   Architects to support and meet project deadlines

   Ability to work independently

   Strong ability to articulate complex technical solutions to

   non-technical peers and management via multiple mediums of communication

   – both oral and written

   Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with competing deadlines.

   Interaction:

                o Limited supervision is provided, as this individual can operate, drive results, and set priorities

                o The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor

                o This individual must demonstrate favorable results through leadership and influencing multiple individuals and groups.

   Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical

   projects.
