SAP Solution Architect
Falls Church, VA - Client will pay expenses 4+ month contract
· Create and maintain SAP architectural best practices and activities, addressing application, data and technology in the context of business processes
· Look for and help develop new services and capabilities to address client business needs in the SAP space
· Support new and existing service offerings as required, including developing and delivering presentations to line staff and management )
· Participate in SAP proposal and sales efforts as required; specifically:
· Work with account and sales management to make sales calls and provide consulting services as necessary around Enterprise Architecture and/or SAP Architecture
· Work with account management to develop response and solution approaches to RFPs or client requests
· Develop the solutions architecture (application and technology) for proposed SAP solutions, including analysis of multiple architectural options if desired
· Work with the infrastructure organization to size, architect and cost the infrastructure to support proposed SAP solutions
· Work with the application organizations to develop approaches, plans, estimates and cost models for implementing SAP solutions
· Work with Pricing group to develop Cost and Deal Review packages
· Write proposal sections relating to the following areas, as appropriate, with minimal input and direction:
· Migrations of existing SAP environments to facilities/support
· Implementation of new SAP solutions (including methodology, techniques used, client staffing participation, team structure, managing processes, etc.)
· Implementation of hosting solutions for SAP
· Integration of legacy systems and bolt-ons into the SAP solution architecture
· Change and configuration management in SAP environments
· Participate in SAP implementations as required; specifically:
· Plan and estimate technical and SAP architectural and technical project activities, including technical architecture/infrastructure implementation, technical development and integration activities, and data conversion/data cleansing activities
· Develop and document business requirements
· Develop SAP landscape and technical architecture designs to meet the documented business requirements, in accordance with client standards and architectural guidelines
· Size and cost the technical infrastructure (hardware and software) required to fulfill the technical architecture
· Work with Finance to develop the appropriate pricing for the technical infrastructure, and with Account Team to present pricing to the client
· Manage the implementation, configuration and documentation of the equipment
· Perform as Systems Architect , and coordinate and manage the technical/systems architectural activities for the project
· Manage the Technical activities for an implementation, including the technical development, data conversions, and technical infrastructure implementation
· Perform as Project/Program Manager if necessary, managing client relationship, project budget and status reporting, staffing, and internal reporting as necessary
· Facilitate an architectural continuous improvement process
· Develop and maintain the repository of standard, integrated, re-usable SAP solutions in support of business processes
· Develop and execute an architecture quality review process for SAP projects and activities
· Provide a forum/network to share learnings and leverage skills |
· Knowledge of the following Core SAP Technical and Application Architectures - FI/CO, MM/PP/PPPI, SD, PM, QM
· Knowledge of SAP ASAP Methodology and at least one other lifecycle methodology
· Knowledge of one or more SAP Extension Technical and Application Architectures (e.g. BW, APO, Workplace/Portals, ESS/Client, SEM, CRM)
· Knowledge of at least two of the following hardware platform technologies - IBM, Sun, HP (Intel or Risc), Client
· Knowledge of at least one of the following DBMS platforms - DB2, Oracle, SQL Server
· Knowledge of SAP Business Suite 7 (ECC 6.0, BW 7.x, etc.) |
· BS degree
· MS/MBA or equivalent work experience in SAP/ERP architecture and solutions |
· Experience with application, data and technology disciplines in SAP environment
· Experience in gathering data required to size SAP environments, estimating missing information as necessary based on industry metrics, and sizing SAP environments
· Strategic insight; ability to balance between short term project deliverables and long term strategic requirements. Maintains holistic view.
· Project management experience
· Systems integration experience
· Detailed Application or Technology architecture experience
· Ability to influence beyond span of control facilitation, negotiation, mediation skills
· Ability to work with multiple levels of client interaction, line staff to management levels
· Ability to develop and deliver client and industry presentations at a detail level |
· Knowledge of the following Core SAP Technical and Application Architectures PS, PLM, HR/Payroll
· Knowledge of more than one SAP Extension Technical and Application Architectures
· Knowledge of more than one hardware platform
· Knowledge of more than one DBMS platform
· Knowledge of SAP 4.6c/Enterprise/4.7
· Knowledge of SAP Bolt-ons helpful (Vertex, etc.)
· Knowledge of Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) tools helpful (e.g.Crossworlds, STC, etc.)
· Knowledge of specific industry solutions and supply chain in general |
· Formal presentation experience
· Ability to develop and deliver client and industry presentations at an executive level
· Process improvement experience
· Experience with documenting SAP environments
· Ability to pull together cross functional teams to meet customer needs |
· Excellent writing skills
