Description:
Our unit delivers new, innovative, cloud-based, maps and location experiences across devices, screens and platforms. The Explore Experiences team builds products that help people discover and explore places, share them with friends, even coordinate to get there.
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer (Mobile Software Developer/Android Developer) to develop device clients for our exciting new services. Strong track record of developing and delivering world-class client side native/Java smartphone applications is a must.
You will be a key member of our team that builds innovative mobile applications for all leading smart phone platforms (Android, iOS, Windows, Blackberry). Depending on your qualifications and interest, you will be closely involved in architecture and system design, product specification and/or user interface & graphical specifications.
Qualifications
· Bachelor in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar technical degree
· Expertise with best practices for Android development
· Demonstrated experience in Java development and RESTFUL API’s
· Designed, implemented and published Android applications
· Solid understanding of object oriented (OOD / OOP), Agile, and incremental development methodologies
· Strong understanding of smartphone technologies, limitations, and platform specific differences and quirks
· Ability to negotiate requirements with user interface designers
· Excellent command of written and spoken English
· At least 5 years of relevant professional experience
Preferred
· Extensive experience developing mobile UI
· Experience developing native mobile applications in Android
· Experience in client-side Web technologies (HTML 5/JS/CSS3) is desirable
· A good understanding of backend cloud services
· Experience working on social networking and/or location-based services
· Experience in Agile software development and the scrum methodology
