Position: Python Engineer
Location: NYC
Duration: Long term contract
Client has an opening for a Python Software Engineer in the Ad-Sales area. The Software Engineer will design, write and implement software solutions for Ad Sales department, helping connect various systems used within Ad Sales group.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Core team member of Ad Sales Software development team.
· Integrate various software platforms through vendor APIs.
· Work with vendors on API implementation and troubleshooting, suggesting necessary features and identifying enhancement opportunities.
· Engineer integrated software solutions to anticipate and enable business growth, productivity, and reliability.
· Identify automation opportunities within ad sales workflows, and develop appropriate software solutions.
· Coordinate with internal and vendor support teams to isolate issues and drive resolution.
· Develop RESTful web services.
· Configure test, QA and production environments with proper packages and dependencies to enable development.
Basic Qualifications:
· Degree in Computer Science equivalent work experience
· Understanding of software architecture grounded in a minimum of 7 years of software development and configuration experience
· Strong knowledge of Python with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
· Solid experience in writing RESTful web services in Python.
· Minimum 3 years' experience working with front end (UI) tools and web frameworks, based in Python (ex. Django, Flask, web.py etc.)
· Experience with object-relational mapping technology and architecture, preferably using SQLAlchemy
· Experience using Python web server e.g. Gunicorn, Tornado or similar.
· Experience using RabbitMQ and task queue based system Celery.
· Minimum 5 years working with relational databases and SQL, ideally on an Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server environment
· Experience using java script or java script based framework jQuery, dojo, Node.js, Angular.js.
· Minimum 5 years working with IT systems, with a solid understanding of network protocols and standards (e.g. DNS, TCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH)
· Experience developing software against documented third-party APIs and working with vendors to identify and correct issues and drive enhancements
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Characteristics:
· Experience working with Agile and Scrum methodologies for software development and project execution
· Experience working with NOSQL databases e.g Redis, Memcache, Couchdb
· Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Enterprise Linux and/or Ubuntu server
· Proficiency using HTML/CSS/AJAX in a production environment to design and build an effective UX
